Hi All! This is my first keyboard build. All the parts I ordered have finally arrived, did all the lubing, ready to put it together… only to find out I’m having trouble putting the plate onto the pcb.

What I did & parts:

  1. Foam in case
  2. Stabilizers– drill in on the back side of PCB
  3. Plate on top – doesn’t fit 🙁
  4. took plate off popped in switches
  5. popped on keycaps

Is a plate necessary? it seems like it would be nicer?

Am I doing something wrong here, or are my parts not compatible?

Correct. Here it is on Amazon US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MWDQDR1

Ninja edit: I filed my plate, not the stabs. I already own an assortment of files, but any small flat jeweler style file should work.

After over a month of going back and forth, I think I’ve finally finalized my first build with the intent of it lasting me at least 5 years. I’m just posting this just to run it by you guys to make sure all the parts are of good quality and are compatible with each other.

Welcome to the hobby! I personally have a soft spot for the board because of how it introduces modding and gives room for it so you can pinpoint what kind of board you’d want endgame (Or even serve as an endgame board itself).

The stock stabilizers are horrendous and though you can remediate it by relubing, I highly recommend hand-lubing/tuning them yourself. I’ll link the go-to stabs on Amazon and a helpful video from Taeha penning down how much of a difference they can make.

All three sets of durock v2 clears have been excellent and have not given me any issues.

What stabilisers should I get? I heard Durok V2s are good. If so, which ones of those would I get?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Stabilizers-Transparent-Housing-Mechanical-Keyboard/dp/B08MWDQDR1?th=1

Also what lube would you suggest for the stabs?

Thanks for any help.
