I think the black rug and black bookcase will look nice. Your room seems fairly bright and I think it could make it cozy. Honestly you could make any of the rugs work, a blue or green would be fun and would be a different feel to the black. With your flooring, I might consider a different bed frame, maybe a something like this or this?

I think if you have the space for it, go for the queen instead of full, and get a bed with some storage underneath; I’ve had good experience with Zinus brand too
For storage for small spaces, I like putting a tall bookcase behind other low furniture, so have the bookcase against the wall and your desk in front of it

Yup, I lived in an 8×10 room with no closet in it for a few years. If you have a floor plan it’ll be easier to advise
General tips:
Get a bed with storage underneath like this
Line one wall with tall bookcases like this (easier) or mount on the wall above it, full length of the wall
Also consider high shelves around the perimeter of the whole room
Get a slightly taller dresser instead of a nightstand to max out storage
If you need a wardrobe make sure to max out vertical space

Is this close enough? The part at the end is annoying anyway so this seems like an improvement.
