Can you make a safe plywood platform? Sure, but a 4×8 sheet needs to be cut for a twin size or two sheets for any larger beds. It will need a frame of some sort and will be a pain to move.

A 2×4 or 2×6 wooden frame with spaced 1×4 slats would be easier to build and move. Use deck screws and rent a chop saw and screw gun.

A platform on milk crates works pretty good. You could do a plywood platform on milk crates. It needs some down the center too, not just the corners. It will need some wood strips to hold the sections together (cleats) and wood blocks to keep the crates from sliding around. Holes would be good. You’ll need a hole saw or big spade bit and a drill and a skill saw and a helper to cut the sheets. Some lumber yards will make plywood cuts for a small fee. Then you need a way to get them home.

Zinus makes a steel frame with wood slats that is good and can be unbolted for moving. If you have Amazon Prime it’s really deal. I’ve had one for 3 years. Tall enough for storage under or just easy cleaning.
