I have a little different version of this bench. The one I have doesn’t taper. I wanted the same width for the entire length. But that one is sold out. The one I have is solid so I would assume this is too. Regular 17 inch bench height and its very sturdy. I was in the same position as you. Not trying to spend 500 on a bench and everything was sold out.
