It’s not a Wacom but I’ve been using this XP-Pen tablet and it works very good.

Digital is a whole other medium that you’ll have to get used to, just be aware, it’s not a direct translation of sketching though it does help to be skilled at it.

I’m an amateur at best, but this is the one I purchased. I did a LOT of research before settling on one, and I’ve been super happy with it!! https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B077P6BQP7/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_01V4RWF10EQP2ZWS13KK?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I have the H610, which I bought in 2013. The drivers suck, made worse by being on macOS which I imagine gets less attention from Huion than Windows 10. I’ve reinstalled drivers, restarted, tried anything I can think over, on repeat, and nothing works right; so I gave up and ordered the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 Drawing Tablet with overnight shipping just to try it. I think the H610 is just super-old tech, relatively speaking, so I’m hoping the newer stuff is more sensitive and doesn’t require as much pressure (which is causing strain on my wrist; trying to learn to use the pen properly but the H610 makes that hard).

I say all that to say getting a new (perhaps used) tablet is probably your only solution. H610 is old. Unless you mean the H610 Pro V2 which is newer, but still modeled after the much older H610.

How about a digital pen and tablet for each? I bought one for $80, works very well, particularly with Drawboard PDF. But I know there are other sites that focus on collaboration with digital pens, like whiteboard.chat

There is also the XP-Pen Deco 01 V2 that comes in at a lower price but is still a solid option. Different size ratio to the Wacom Intuos Medium, but quite similar to the Huion 11611.

Both the Deco and the H1161 have higher pressure sensitivity, tilt recognition, and more programmable express keys than the Intuos you’re looking at.

What is nice with the Wacom purchase is the 2 year trial of ClipStudio Paint Pro that you can get, though the listing on Amazon shows 90 days. The Wacom website however says 2 years, but 90 days for the other two programs.

With the Deco purchase, when you go onto the website to register your product, you can get ArtRage Lite for free.

I bought a drawing tablet on Amazon (this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077P6BQP7/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XpPmFbW3NP0SG), and I do my lectures in OneNote via screen sharing on Zoom. There’s a bit of a learning curve with the tablet, and my handwriting suffers a bit, but my students seemed to like it. I love that I can copy and paste pictures in (tables, charts, whatever) and write directly on them.

Ah alright then, so if you buy new your only options are the Wacom Intuos Small, Bluetooth and non-Bluetooth versions. It only has one cable used to connect to the computer, so I think you can do without the bluetooth; wired tends to have a better connection than wireless in general.

The size of the drawing area on the Intuos is 6 x 3.7 in, while the Medium’s is 8.5 x 5.3 in. Which size is better for you depends on a lot of things. Too small relative to your screen and your cursor might not be as precise as you want, too large and you might be moving your hand a lot to move your cursor across the screen. I know it’s over $100, but from what I’ve seen online, a Medium is better for illustration and Small feels cramped.

But there’s also other tablets that are affordable and arguably just as good as Wacom’s, like the XP-Pen Deco 01. 8 customizable shortcut keys compared to the 4 on the Intuos, an active area of. 10 x 6.25 in, and it has twice the pressure sensitivity and LPI (lines per inch) of the Intuos.

Whichever you get, I suggest buying it from somewhere with a good return policy so you can try it out and return it if you don’t like it or if there’s hardware issues or annoying driver issues.

I just picked up this thing on amazon…. i saw that it was one of the cheapest with really good pressure sensitivity (8192) and is much bigger than expected

The only thing I don’t like about it is how cheap the stylus feels, not to mention the buttons on the stylus itself. it might feel so cheap because it’s a passive stylus and doesnt need recharge though. I’m about ready to disable the buttons completely because I keep accidentally pressing them as I draw.

I suck at drawing but I am having fun learning with it. If I ever improve, I might spring for one that has a screen built in or get a surface touch device. Was surprised how quickly I got used to looking at the screen and drawing elsewhere.

I recently got this one (hopefully the link works! If not, it’s the XP-Pen Deco 01) from amazon and I love it! It’s a little cheaper than your price range which I’m not sure is good or bad (on one hand, cheaper! On the other, is it worse quality? I’m not sure.) It does everything I need it to as a hobby though. It’s pressure sensitive, comes with a little glove for your ring and pinky fingers, and comes with replaceable pen nibs!

XP-Pen Deco 01 is what I use right now. This is not the best around but it does the job very well and you might want to consider the price and the pen’s pressure sensitivity especially if you have a tight budget: https://www.amazon.com/10×6-25-Graphics-Battery-free-shortcut-pressure/dp/B077P6BQP7

I like XP-Pen Deco01 pen drawing tablet because it has a good size and you can put the pen in that blue fabric thing in the top. It’s also really good to work with and it has like some other cool things it can do. But I have only tried one other than that one and I remember when I tried it for the first time it was really good and also very easy to get used to! My friend :iconjinxbc: was the one who sugested it for me and I was really happy that she did!
And with paint tool sai, it’s easier than other programs to draw strait lines and it’s also way more cheap than Photoshop for example!

I sometimes use a USB drawing pad to mark up PDFs. Specifically, this one.

Writing tablets are amazing imo. A good writing tablet like https://www.amazon.com/10×6-25-Graphics-Battery-Free-Shortcut-Pressure/dp/B077P6BQP7 (I use this one). Feels like a nice marker and software is pretty good. I’m not too sure what I will do when classes are in person tho

I suggest getting a $70 digital pen and writing tablet, plug and use instantly, and use the free pdf reader, Drawboard PDF. Of all the apps this one does the best at feeling and looking natural.

Thank you for the response! I do have an iPad, but a fairly old version that does not hold the charge well. I was thinking of getting one of these guys – tablets specifically designed for drawing and writing:

https://www.amazon.com/10×6-25-Graphics-Battery-Free-Shortcut-Pressure/dp/B077P6BQP7/ref=sr_1_46?dchild=1&keywords=digital+note+taking+device&qid=1595284464&sr=8-46

I have seen a few people using them on various campuses, and they seem very handy. Definitely more convenient than carrying multiple large notebooks for different classes, sometimes losing pages or leaking ink through pages.

I don’t have personal experience with it yet, but I just bought a drawing tablet and drawing pen on Amazon and it should arrive Monday. I bought it because it was significantly cheaper than any tablet with a screen, and if I just connect that with a whiteboard app (available on microsoft app store), I think I’m gonna be ok. The one I got is $70, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B077P6BQP7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I saw they are as cheap as 35-40, and more expensive ones as well. I watched reviews ony youtube first and they seemed good.
