If Im not mistaken the Fiio has a built in battery. The one you linked would be an extra drain on your phone’s battery instead. Thats one major difference, otherwise theyre probably very similar. Another aspect about amplifiers is that the so called noise floor is lower, especially for iems. Amps don’t merely go louder, they do add some quality. If you want to make the largest gains, you probably should consider a dac/amp combo. The best one is the Oppo but that will set you back more than 300 bucks. I’ve read very good things about the XDUOO XD-05:

Before I bought a Chord Mojo (as much as I want one after reading all the reviews), I would give the Xduoo XD-05 a go first. The XD-05 seems to have some damn nice features, including a lot of DAC filters that sound like they could be interesting to try out.

XDuoo XD-05:

Topping NX4:
https://www.amazon.com/TOPPING-NX4-Amplifier-Compatible-Black/dp/B01N9S3R6A

So there is roughly a $35 difference in favor of topping NX4.

I don’t know the measurements for XD-05, however here’s a comparison of NX4 to Q1 II:

https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-fiio-q1-mark-ii-portable-dac-and-headphone-amp.4074/
https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-topping-nx4-dsd-dac-and-portable-headphone-amplifier.3507/

The NX4 is $60 more but objectively shits upon the Q1 in everyway. THD+N ratio is an order of magnitude better for the NX4 and the SINAD is 15 db higher with a much much better power output than Q1. NX4 at high gain outputs 5.816 Vrms, whereas the Q1 outputs 1.512 Vrms. Truly it’s not comparable.

If you propose alternatives, there’s also the Xduoo XD-05 ($210 on amazon : https://www.amazon.com/xDuoo-384KHz-Portable-Headphone-Amplifier/dp/B019SM6JUU). It’s also a device that’s less portable than the Mojo, but powerfull enough to use 300ohm headphones. Many positive reviews on the web (for example in french here : http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/info/hi-res-guide/bancs-d-essai/xduoo-xd-05178136)
