Sounds like the Velocifire TLKO2WS would be a great fit for you. It’s wireless with a USB dongle (no fiddling with Bluetooth). It’s tenkeyless. It’s got brown switches so they’re still tactile like blues, but without the click. Plus it’s backlit, includes USB C charging, and goes for about $45 US on Amazon.

Thanks for the suggestion! I saw this keyboard, too, and I do like it, especially given the lower price point! My boss is very particular about aesthetics (we’re a financial firm and we have clients coming in and out; he’s all about the look), so ideally the keyboard needs to wireless on some level to reduce desk clutter.
I did see this one here – Velocifire TKL02WS 87-key wireless – that satisfies 4 of my top 5. Doesn’t have media buttons, though. Was really hoping for dedicated media buttons.
(PS: Do people not like dedicated media buttons? I see a lot of mechanical keyboards lack this and could never figure out why. I would have thought people would prefer this over an Fn button.)

Ok real stupid noobie questions incoming. Fair warning. I am trying to get some blank white keycaps for a test project where I engrave stuff on them.
One, can I just use any keycaps? I have these knockoff browns on this keyboard here. Would something like this work?
And two, does anyone sell custom engraved, printed, or silkscreened keys? Like if I wanted a row of keys that said auto, gear, flaps, brakes, etc, is there a company that does that?

I think I have that exact keyboard! It was annoying at first but then I got used to it. The keyboard I have: Wireless Mechanical Keyboard,… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RWCD8CJ?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

- Good to hear, hopefully it can game well
- The auto sleep is now my bigger worry, my mouse only takes up to 3 seconds to connect after sleeping. After how many minutes does it sleep?
- I like the feel of both Surface and mechanical keyboards but the blue switches are just too damn loud.
I may also consider these two keyboards; this has a brown switch but no Bluetooth mode, and this is a red switch but with Bluetooth. Advantage of both is lower cost and backlight, but on a wireless keyboard that’ll probably drain the battery more.
·
in that case maybe the velocifire tkl02ws?
it doesn’t have like the qmk/zmk etc support but other than that i think it fulfills everything else

I’m currently using the Velocifire TKL02WS, it checks all of the boxes except for the RGB lighting, since it only has white back lighting. It’s a wireless plug-and-play keyboard, and its probably one of the few budget keyboards out there that has a clean font. It uses Gateron browns. It’s a very minimalistic board, the only logo on the board is at the bottom and its not noticeable when you’re typing. I got it for like $39 USD during Cyber Monday, that price went up now but its still a great budget board.

I’ve picked up a Velocifire TKL02WS recently and it’s been pretty impressive.
The build quality feels solid and the Cherry style stabilizers are very quiet after adding some extra lubricant. Some early reviewers complained about wireless connection issues, but Velocifire released a firmware update here that seems to have resolved that – I haven’t encountered any connection problems. With the backlighting off the battery lasts about two weeks without recharging. It can also be used wired while charging via its USB C cable.
The brown switches are branded as CONTENT which are apparently related to Outemu. They have nice weighting and tactility and I find them comfortable to type on.
The white backlighting doesn’t have any effects or brightness adjustments – just on or off. It’s pretty bright and works well with the double shot keycaps.
Overall it’s a really good deal, especially considering it’s only $45.99 on Amazon. Open box returns have been available on eBay for $35.99.

I’ve been pretty impressed with the Velocifire TKL02WS.
The build quality feels solid and the Cherry style stabilizers are very quiet after adding some extra lubricant. The wireless connection is via a proprietary dongle rather than Bluetooth. Some early reviewers complained about wireless connection issues, but Velocifire released a firmware update here that seems to have resolved that – I haven’t encountered any connection problems.
With the backlighting off the battery lasts about two weeks without recharging. It can also be used wired via its removable USB C cable.
The brown switches are branded as CONTENT which are apparently related to Outemu. They have consistent weighting and decent tactility and I find them comfortable to type on.
The white backlighting doesn’t have any effects or brightness adjustments – just on or off. It’s pretty bright and works well with the double shot keycaps. It has a standard bottom row so compatibility with custom keycaps like the carbon set you linked to won’t be a problem.
Overall it’s a really good deal, especially considering it’s only $46.99 on Amazon. Open box returns have been available on eBay for $35.99. I don’t think you’d gain much going with something like the iKBC CD87. While iKBC makes great boards, I don’t see anything that would justify the additional cost unless you’d prefer actual Cherry brand switches.

It will be stock in early April on our website, but now you can buy it on Amazon.
·
I do recall just one with almost all those features : Velocifire TKL02WS
But the only switches they use is Outemu Brown

I completely understand, unfortunately though in the case of wireless traveling boards, finding a 87% is rather difficult if you’re looking for compact and portability.
As far as compromising speed, I think that’s just based on who you talk to. Using something like an 87%, most people don’t often use a bunch of the other keys unless they’re being used in something task specific.
There’s one more option I could recommend to you though in the case of TKL wireless.

The Taurus has cables and can use different Type-C cables, but with modding it can easily be converted to be wireless.
