I used a WD Green ssd, not the fastest thing but more than enough, The reason I went with that was lower power draw for my 3AMP psu. But tbh even this is probably throttled by the usb so no point going all out for performance.

many thanks for this! i am in the UK, so no microcenter 🙁

I really don’t want to have to update the bios’s for all the computers. I’m sure it would be a big hassle. Also, I can’t seem to find the B450m pro4 matx on amazon. I am also unsure if i’d get that ssd – what are your opinions on this one?

otherwise, looks good. if you have any further advise on the CPU that would be much appreciated 🙂
are b550 motherboards expected anytime soon?

What makes nvme such a good choice? I got a WD green m.2 SSD 240gb and I don’t think it is nvme. Is this ssd any good? It was £28 when I bought it.

Thank you!

So this adapter (the one you mentioned) and something like this https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B078WYS5K6?psc=1 or https://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B07S7P78GR?psc=1 would work?

Also, original storage was 128GB; 240GB SSD should be okay, right?

The upgrade looks fairly easy you can find guides on youtube on how to do it.

Simply remove all screws from the underside use a spudger to lift up the clips going all round the lip between the keyboard deck and back casing.

The laptop uses an M.2 ssd and you can find a decent sized and fast one on amazon i recommend this one for a budget upgrade

^this. Or WD Green, 240gb for £43.48. 120gb for £27.95 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B078WYS5K6

Knock a few quid off if you want a standard non-M.2 SATA SSD, most brands are pretty cheap now. Not really worth buying pre-owned.

Something like this should work, right?

Yes, I know that 3000MHz ram will increase the performance of APUs. Hence I asked if I could just overclock it to 3000MHz on the motherboard or not.

I chose the CX 450 for the purpose of overclocking GPU & RAM. Also chose it because it has 80+ Bronze rating.

Eh, the xeons that are any worth of PC gaming go on the lga 1366 socket, for which motherboards are more expensive than my whole build, and are rarely even available for purchase.
