It’s a bit pricier, but I go with my own NVMe drives inside of a USB C NVMe enclosure for moving data between places or as temporary storage such as for scratch disks. The speeds are much faster and the reliability has been excellent. This external SATA 512GB SSD costs $80 USD for example.

This is the external ssd I like. It works very well for gaming and I primarily use it for the games I play online with friends a lot.

According to userbenchmark.com the thumb drive is 2x faster than the HDD but 1/3 the speed of an SSD.
I may do this WD:

Almost every external ssd hard drive on the market. Lacie, seagate, wd, any of them. They’ll look like a square rectangle, not long and skinny, about the size or slightly larger than a mans wallet, and say ssd on the package and not hdd. Here’s an example

TBH, once the sinking animation starts, you can’t spawn until it completes. I’ve never timed how long it takes, but I know it feels like forever after I sink a ship full of loot and I’m waiting for it all to float to the surface.
But to load faster, buy an external SSD and move the game to that drive.
The Xbox One released in 2013 with hardware from 2009; hardware from 2009 is pretty shitty in 2021. However, that means you don’t even have to spend a lot on an external SSD since it is limited to USB 3.0 speeds anyway. Something like this would do wonders for your loading times in SOT.

Why would you choose a SATA drive if your intent is a portable drive to boot from? Sure, you could put it in an enclosure and convert it to usb but there are better options available. Like this.

Glad you find it helpful!
Oh sure thing.
You got external SSD. You can just type “external SSD” on amazon, and see what prices fit you.
Or external HDD.
Or external 3.5” HDD enclosure
Or this.
As you can see, those are just examples of what’s available, and I’m linking all products for Western Digital, because they’re one of the most reputable brands for storage solutions, great products and amazing prices.
You can see for yourself, just type “external storage” on amazon, use the links I sent you as a basic guide, and look at the reviews, and make a decision based on what you find and need.
