I first used this during Planetside some time back, and I tried for a while, but constantly having to change this options on a per game basis annoyed me. Its not an industry accepted method yet, but I preferred the access much more.

I really contemplated getting a tailor built keyboard for a while. For the curious: https://www.amazon.com/WolfKing-DK2388UBK-Warrior-Gaming-Keypad/dp/B000IMZHL2

I used to run one of these https://www.amazon.com/WolfKing-DK2388UBK-Warrior-Gaming-Keypad/dp/B000IMZHL2 that I actually really enjoyed using, but over time it just took up too much space (i had to have a keyboard around usually even if i was using it for like MMOs). It definitely cut down on some of my strain hitting some buttons though (like pinky to left ctrl over and over)

I use one of these.

Wolfking Warrior Keypad

They are out of production and the one I have is starting to look a little worse for the wear. I can barely play FPS games with a normal keyboard. I may have to try out the n52te to see if I can learn to use it.

Hi; thank you, but I’m looking for a gaming numeric pad, not a playstation or xbox controller. so a more modern, mac compatible version of this: http://www.amazon.com/WolfKing-DK2388UBK-Warrior-Gaming-Keypad/dp/B000IMZHL2

I have one of those by Razer. It’s decent, but most don’t seem to have anywhere near enough buttons. I’m thinking about this one:
