1.) I would recommend getting (or building) a long lowboy bookcase for the wall behind the desk/across from the bed that you can fill with books, plants (real or faux), and odds and ends (including a phone/device charger that sits on top). Something like this:

2.) A large area rug will definitely make the space cozy. Here’s one that is 9×12 and inexpensive for the size (I have this one myself, in turquoise, which I bought after a long and exhaustive search so I can vouch that this is the best price you’ll find for a nice rug in this particular size); it comes in a few colors:

A peel and stick (removable, which is good if you’re renting or don’t want to commit permanently) mural or wallpaper could look really nice on the slanted wall/ceiling that has that tapestry/artwork on it, and there are a lot of options – you could go with something graphic and patterned, or a stone or wood look, or beautiful scenery, or something more artistic, depending on what you like best.
