Dr. Brenner Vitamin C Serum 20% Pure L-Ascorbic Acid, Ferulic Acid, Vitamin E and Hyaluronic Acid. Buy on Amazon, $19.99 for 1 oz.

I was a devoted Skinceuticals Vitamin C user and switched to this. Love it. I did buy a refillable airless pump bottle to transfer the serum into so it stays as fresh as possible.

I’m sensitive to vit c but I found this one I really like, it’s supposed to be a doup for the skinscuticles ce-ferulic. Oddly enough it smells exactly the same as the expensive stuff and my skin does well with it

I bought this one based on influencer advice – I think it was Meg O on the Go. It’s also supposed to be a Skinceuticals dupe but it’s only $19.99. I can’t compare it to Skinceuticals but I like it as much or better than both the Peter Thomas Roth vitamin C cream and the Sunday Riley CEO.

I have dehydrated acne prone skin. I started using Dr. Brenners Vit C serum (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071GZPPQ4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and its totally breaking me out.

Ive been google searching with reddit ab and I’m getting conflicting information about whether vit c should break you out at first. I want those glowy pih fading benefits gosh darnit!!!! If vitamin c broke you out what was some problem solving you did? Did you wait it out, switch serums, etc.

It’s more effective & important to have a Vitamin C serum that contains ferulic acid & Vitamin E in a good proportion. Skinceuticals has the original Vitamin C, E & ferulic acid serum formula, $150+, which they discovered and patented. But there are very good knockoffs that come very close to their formula, like the Dr. Brenner’s Vitamin C, E, Ferulic acid serum, $15. Timeless also makes a good Vitamin C + E + ferulic acid serum, $17,, but between Dr. Brenner’s & Timeless, I liked Dr. Brenner’s better and it’s much better-rated on Amazon, in hundreds of reviews.

There are many good, inexpensive serums that contain peptides, and it’s not worth going with a suboptimal Vitamin C serum to get them, IMO. You can find Vitamin C + ferulic acid serums that contain peptides, but they’re more than 2x the price of Dr. Brenner’s (~$30-$40) without being great peptide serums.

The Ordinary’s Buffet serum, $15, is a peptides serum that looks very good.

I’d get a knockoff of Skinceutical’s Vitamin C + E + ferulic acid formula (like Dr. Brenner’s) and The Ordinary’s Buffet, for a total of about $30. Then you’re getting two great formulations.

Edit: Thank you for the Silver!

Dear Klairs Midnight Blue Youth Activation Drop

Top 2 ingredients are epidermal growth factor (EGF) & fibroblast growth factor (FGF), plus blueberry extract & adenosine. Very watery & absorbs instantly, fantastic for layering and/or adding to another serum.

Hada Labo Goku-Jyun Premium Hyaluronic Acid Lotion

Recently upgraded from a regular HA serum, Hada Labo Goku-Jyun Premium contains 5 kinds of hyaluronic acid & upgrading has had a definite impact.

MISSHA – Time Revolution Special Limited Edition Set: Night Repair Borabit Ampoule 50ml + The First Treatment Essence (Intensive Moist)

Ferment-filtrate based, products similar to SKII’s ferment toner and Estee Lauder’s Night Repair Serum. Remarkable impact on complexion, texture & color of skin on the day of use as well as long-term benefits.

Dr. Jart+ – Ceramidin Serum 40ml (New product)

Well, it just is. The new Dr.Jart++ Ceramidin formulas have 5 kinds of ceramides in them.

COSRX – Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence 100ml

Main ingredient is snail secretion filtrate. Easy to layer form of snail mucin (requires working in with additional water-only layers to fully absorb tho).

**Dr. Brenner’s Vitamin C+E+Ferulic Acid Serum

20% vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid), 1% vitamin E (alpha tocopherol), 1% Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate), and 0.5% ferulic acid. Much prefer this to Timeless’ version of C+E+Ferulic Acid, which very quickly gets stale & smells rank for some reason. This seems to be the top-rated Vitamin C+E+Ferulic Acid serum on Amazon, for whatever reason, even tho there are many brands of that on Amazon. Immediately noticeable if I leave it out of my skin care routine that day. The next step up from this would be a 24-hour time-release version of C+E+Ferulic Acid, which I just ordered as a gel cream by Ole Henriksen. I intend to keep the Dr. Brenner and have the Ole Henriksen as a pair for it.

MyChelle Remarkable Retinal serum with Orange Plant Stem Cells

Contains 1% retinal, the highest I’ve found so far. Retinal is stronger than retinol, and doesn’t have the same drying, leathery effect on skin. The formulation is also very nice, with very nice natural botanical actives & ceramide 3 as fillers. Layers beautifully.

Asterwood Naturals Matrixyl 3000 + Agireline

A concentrated peptides serum that is easy to use stand-alone for layering or to add to another serum/cream. I do add Matrixyl Synthe to it (only 2% of of a peptides serum should be Matrixyl Synthe). This is a great all-around peptides serum without a lot of bells & whistles, but it’s wonderful in that it’s concentrated and comes in a 4oz bottle for $35. You can use it to add peptides to your body lotion even, at that price.

Insta Natural Niacinamide Serum

Niacinamide serum in a base of natural botanical actives. Instant impact on complexion as well as long term effects. Layers beautifully as the botanical fillers absorb and don’t lay on the skin like serums with a lot of inert filler ingredients.

Nivea Men Active Energy Skin Revitalizer After Shave 2-in-1 Balm (from Germany)

CoQ10 + creatine + some botanical actives. CoQ10 + creatine support the cell mitochondrial production/use of ATP, the energy needed for cells to do their work. For skin, that includes collagen building & other “work” skin cells have to do. It’s hard enough to find ATP supporting ingredients that I’m still resorting to this one. Unfortunately, as a drugstore brand, it contains a small amount of dimethicone/silicone & citrusy perfume. But being that it’s a male product, it’s not loaded with thsoe texturizers & fillers & the active ingredients are high in the ingredient list and this layers well well as a serum. I might make my own Q10 + creatine serum by adding those ingredients to some other serum after this runs out.

Dr. Brenner’s Vitamin C+E+Ferulic Acid, a simple but cheap $17 product that’s the highest rated c-e-f serum on Amazon, maybe because it absorbs so well. Marketing video

The next upgrade to Vitamin C for me is a 24-hour time release one. I’m putting a little more money for Ole Henriksen c-rush gel cream, which has 3 types of vitamin c, a timed release formula and some really nice botanical actives as fillers/synergy ingredients.

I’ll keep the Dr. Brenner’s in my routine, definitely, and add the Ole Henriksen to pair with it.

>SPF!? My man!.

Hey thanks, Let’s spread the gospel! The sun is not our friend 😎

This is the CEF serum I used. I’ve incredible studies about it’s UV blocking ability, but my skin hates it. Now I just use a water gel SPF from japan.

What other products are considered “anti aging”? Are AHA’s in that category.

Thanks so much!

My heart belongs to Dr Brenners Vit C. $18 on Amazon, No weird smell, I love it.

This review helped me make sense of the breakdown in ingredients between some of the ones I was deciding on.
