I got the Sunny Obsidian from Amazon and returned it. Yeah, it was a pain to return, but that’s how disappointed I was with it. The foot pedals moved a lot making it impossible to row (I’m short) and the resistance was non-existent compared to the rowers at OTF.

Unfortunately, hubby was very adamant about not spending $1000+ on a rower and in these crazy times, I agree. So, I ended up getting a WaterRower knock-off on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08741FLQK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

It’s far from perfect, but for the price it does the job well enough. The monitor is wildly inaccurate and it makes a creaky noise sometimes. It also came with the wrong instructions — luckily I was able to figure it out and then a few days later the seller sent the correct instructions. But it otherwise feels “right” so I feel like I’m getting the same experience as OTF.

Bottom line, if you have the money, just buy the WaterRower brand rower or look into something like CityRow Go where you can pay monthly for it. If you feel the need to be cost conscious, be careful and consider the return policy. That Sunny rower was truly awful in my opinion, but there are some knock-offs on Amazon that can do the trick.

I’ve tried both the eRegatta app (didn’t love it) and the CityRow Go apps for rowing and I really like CityRow. They even have a few Facebook Live rowing classes too.
