So I really want to buy V-MODA M-100’s… But I am a bit confused when comparing prices between Amazon and the V-MODA website…

See here for the Amazon listing. I mean I get that if you order from the V-Moda website (for $270) you get to customize your headphones and such, but nearly 70 dollars off for the white model (or 50, or 30, depending on your flavor of black) seems like an excessive discount unless there’s… something missing. The V-Moda website lists the following items as included in the ($270) order:

What’s Included?
* Crossfade M-100
* Exoskeleton carry case
* Carabiner clip
* Reinforced SpeakEasy™ Microphone cable
* Reinforced SharePlay™ audio cable
* 1/4″ pro adapter
* V-CORK (2)
* V-MODA sticker
* Six-star support

And here Amazon claims (typos and all) basically the same thing:

What’s included: Crossfade M-100, Exoskeleton carry case, caribener, Kevlar reinforced SpeakEasy Microphone control cable, Kevlar reinforced SharePlay audio cable, 1/4″ pro adapter, V-CORK (2), instant six-star support code, V-MODA Sticker

So… is this just Amazon being Amazon, able to undercut their comptetitors/suppliers simply because they can? Or am I missing something here and ordering from Amazon would cause me to lose out on something? for the almost $70 I save ordering from Amazon, I can get the Boom Mic attachment, XL ear pads, AND maroon colored ear plates for a grand total of… $271 and change. I do feel bad not giving all my money to V-MODA because everyone I know who owns a pair would lie in front of a train for them, and I’ve been blown away every time I’ve used them – but this is real life and I’m a grad student and if I can save money for an equivalent product, I will. Thanks for the input!

I’m sort of stuck in a nut about which headphones I want to buy. I’m trying to decide between these:

V-Moda M100

Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro Plus

– Beyerdynamic DT770 32 ohm/80 ohm(though I’d prefer to not have to lug around an amp)

I’m currently using the V-Moda Crossfade LP and dig the build quality but I want to upgrade for better comfort and audio quality(I’ve heard the M100s are more comfortable fwiw).

Does anyone know how these stack up against each other? They’re priced relatively the same so I’d like to know which is best for my money.

edit: just to follow the posting format:

Budget: $200

Source: Laptop, LG G2

Requirements for isolation: not open backed, as much isolation as a v moda lp

Will they be used in public?: occasionally, I’ll mainly stick to my iems for public though.

Preferred type: over ear

Tonal Balance: Some nice overall balance with some bass, not to much or too little

Past headphones: Vmoda crossfade lp
Preferred music: Prog metal/rock, alt metal, stoner metal, hard rock.

What would you like to improve: comfort and sound quality. All of this without sacrificing too much bass but I’m willing to go away from a muddy bass.
