V-MODA Crossfade M-100

Not noise-cancelling, but they have great sound isolation and fold up nicely into a compact travel case. They’re on sale somewhat frequently and I managed to get my pair for $150 from Amazon.

i wanted really good headphones with really good reviews and a very strong casing. I got V-moda crossfade m-100s, $299, because they have a really, really strong headband and monitor casings and are decently comfortable. They also boast incredibly good audio quality. Sometimes at night i get a little blazed and lay in bed with my eyes closed and put the volume at medium, and play some Mura Masa or Mr. Carmack, like his Aerosol Can remix, and you can hear all the details and little clicks and clacks. The thing is, these are such good headphones, that any song with a bitrate under 128kbps is gonna sound pretty shitty. I like them a lot, though. they can withstand all kinds of wear and tear. they make any kind of music sound really good as long as it’s 128 or higher. they have a pretty good warranty, too.

After buying and then breaking or being completely let down by gaming headsets my wife and I had a ‘fuck it’ moment and each just went and dropped cash on Vmoda M100 (with optional upgraded ear pads, and boom mic with mute).

https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK

And OMG. They are built like tanks and sound amazing. Everything modular so if a cable gets messed up you just get another one.

These things are pricey but zomg they’re so worth the price. These things are the real deal. They’re not delicate audiophile headphones, they’re not cheesy overpriced plastic gaming headsets, these things are absolute workhorses.

We love them. Never going back to anything else.

vModa m100
are an excellent pair. Cable is study and cheap to replace, headphones are extremely durable. Would recommend XL pads for the extra $20 too. Wouldn’t say they are flat exactly but they definitely fit in with your past headphones.

I have the v-moda crossfade M-100 and I absolutely love them. There not cheep [$209 is the lowest price on Amazon ](V-MODA Crossfade M-100 Over-Ear Noise-Isolating Metal Headphone (Matte Black Metal) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00A39PPDK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Lb5aybDKP59E7
But the sound quality ia amazing they have some of the best bass I’ve ever had in a pair of headphones and still maintain reasonably good mids and highs. They are also highly customizable through v-moda’s website.

I recommend this for that price range:

I haven’t tried them myself but they are well regarded around here for gaming and general use. Their build quality is extremely high and they are very comfortable.

Lol. on amazon they have some nonsensical pictures, what with them on a scantily clad lady as well as wrapped around a microphone for some strange reason.

Hopefully they sound great and feel comfortable on you. I have a pair of audio technica ath m50x’s and they’re utterly fantastic for me.

mad dog pros are a great option. you could also consider the alpha dogs, they’re $499. both have pretty good low end

Another closed back you can consider would be the Oppo Pm-3. They sound sig is a bit closer to neutral compared to mrspeakers’ offerings and they’re $399.

V-moda m100 are also well known for their warm and bass heavy sound. but overall a great performer nonetheless. They’re rugged, come with a carrying case and detachable cable, foldable, you can daisy chain other headphones off these and they have a great warranty program. not to mention on sale on amazon right now

I think it does but even if it didn’t, any headset that works with a phone or computer will work with them.

HERE IS A FUN TIP. Get a great pair of headphones which are awesome to have on their own right, and buy a separate cord with an inline boom mic. Bam. Instant gaming headset that will also be way better for music than any “gaming” headset, beats, etc.

Actually: peep these http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK. Great soundstage that gives good directional cues on PS4 at least, a kind of bass-favored response without being Beats mud, and by far the best build quality of any cans I’ve owned. I’ve rage-tossed these and they’re still flawless.

I have the M100 + XL pads for work. They’re great. My pads are smashed now though, need to replace them. If mine ever break, I’ll most likely buy another pair.

They seem to be on sale for < $150 on Amazon right now, but you won’t get them for a month or two: https://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1536373670&sr=8-3&keywords=m100

Edit: should’ve read more carefully, yeah they won’t be ideal for mixing or recording since they’re fun cans, not neutral. I’ve not heard them, but the AT r70x gets a lot of praise for being neutral.

Self-proclaimed semi-audiophile here (at the level where I will always opt for 320 kbps when available and where I demand very good headphones/earphones so that I can fully enjoy every melody and intonation along the way – I know what garbage and mediocre -phones sound like and avoid them if I can help it). Just checked my 6s to see if it does this with my top 2 -phones in each class.
With my:
SE846 (15 Hz–20 kHz, 114 dB SPL/mW, 9 Ω): I can definitely hear a buzzing when doing things such as entering the multitasking menu via double clicking the home button
V-MODA Crossfade M-100: no buzzing issue
Beats Tour 2.0: no buzzing issue

Maybe I just got lucky with the build of my 6s. Or maybe my headphones/earbuds aren’t balanced armatures. Either way, I can happily listen to music worry free of #buzzgate.

Edit: Just got a pair of SE846’s (and MY GOD… but…)

You’ll almost certainly have to get the XL pads, which is an extra expense.

Newegg in Canada is having a good sale on the Philips X2HR. It is an open back headphone with more bass than the vast majority of open back sets, it just doesn’t reach into the sub bass as well as some closed back headphones.

The X2 is compatible with your Boompro mic.

do you know if the v-moda crossfade m-100 require an amp? or would benefit from an amp?

Hello /r/headphones users! I am going to be changing my current daily driver headphones again and I want to make sure that I’ve got a decent enough setup to drive these.

Whenever I built my gaming/multimedia PC that I own, it was in the 2012 era. I don’t really remember having access to as many cool external headphone amp/dac combos as we do today. (OR I am just ignorant in regards to their existence) So what I did, was install a PCI Soundcard.

This one in particular, the Asus ROG Xonar Phoebus. It has been great to me and I have been loving this card’s peformance. The software UI is easy to use and it has the ability to drive some pretty wicked headphones (I believe up to 150ohm).

Currently, I use the V-MODA Crossfade M-100 and they have been great to me. However, now that my wife has moved in – the closed back headphones make it difficult to hear her when she is in the same room. :(.

I am planning on switching to the new Massdrop x Senheiser HD 6XX headphones.

I know that my Phoebus will be able to drive these guys properly, but I’m curious if I would see any additional performance gains if I switched to an external dac+amp combo. I was specifically thinking about one of these two:

 • Schitt Magni 3 x Modi 2
 • JDS Labs CD5

Would I gain any additional performance on my current (or future) daily setup by purchasing one of these units?

Thank you for any help that you all can provide – I really would like to discuss this further with the community.

Basically you just have two wires instead of one coming from the headset. I’d argue it’s more cumbersome than the squid mixer.

I was thinking of picking up a pair of V-moda M100s. They are currently priced lower than usual and I’ve been wanting them for a long time. Are they worth the purchase? It’s 199$ for the Matte black pair. They have near flawless reviews. Any advice would be appreciated. I’m hoping to use them for pc gaming (with these) and working out at the gym.

I’ve had these, so far I have no complaints. I would recommend the XL pads for the ears, deeper ear pockets.

I’ve heard good things about this one, r/headphones probably has other options. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00018MSNI

Edit:these are on sale, I’ve never listened to this model though:

No problem! Ah I see, well you might also wanna take a look at the v modas m100, these are warm and bassy too but you’ll probably also wanna buy the XL pads for these, one of my friends has it and he likes it quite a lot, personally if you don’t mind not having too much noise isolation, I’d say go for the MSR7, however, if you need some noise isolation, check out the m100s as well as the momentum 2.0, they might not be as clear/as detailed as the MSR7 (when using a phone) but they’re fun to listen to and I think a lot of people like the sound signatures of them compared to the MSR7 (which is a little more dry per se), but to each their own

If you want pounding bass, get the V-Moda Crossfade M-100. Val Kolton, the founder and CEO is an EDM DJ and developed the line based on his taste for a rumbling, head-nodding low end. I have a pair myself, and they not only sound great with bass (and don’t over-do it on treble), they’re also built extremely tough and look sleek in matte black.

There’s also a Bluetooth option too, the Crossfade Wireless. If you’re not using an amp, there’s a good chance you won’t notice the difference between the wired and wireless modes. Simply amazing sound.

I have both models and love them equally–I know you will too.

If you’re willing to sacrifice a bit of noise cancellation for top-of-the-class durability, I’d look into V-MODA headphones. I have the M-100s, and they’ve lasted me for a little over 3 years so far with absolutely no problems so far – the sound quality and build are still as good as new. The sound quality is on par or better than what you’d expect from headphones in the price range. The M-100 have the ability to fold in on itself to make it extremely portable, but if you’re looking for something cheaper and don’t need the portability, I’d look into the M80s. These things will last you a decade easy, so they’re definitely worth it in my opinion.

If you’re looking for bluetooth: V-MODA Crossfade Wireless

I would say V-Moda M-100 or LP2. (Do not mistake them for the older LP variant, without the -2.) Either way, I’d also recommend you also get the XL pads, they’re more comfortable. But perhaps wait and see if you need them.

The LP2 has more bass, the M-100 has better mid and treble quality. Considering you also listen to pop and rock you may benefit from the M-100 more. On the downside, the M-100 seems to be over $200 on Amazon, but perhaps you can find them somewhere else cheaper.

I’d go for some good musical and bassy headphones combined with an add-on mic, this way you get the best of both worlds. Gaming headsets aren’t really designed for music.

My first choice would be to combine the V-Moda M-100 with a BoomPro… but they come at £20 over budget (at least on Amazon, perhaps look around for deals, or ask stores if they’re willing to sell the combo for £200).

Second choice is to slap a ModMic on a Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 32 Ohm or DT990 Pro 32 Ohm (can’t find these on Amazon, look them up in other places). Don’t get Premium models or DT880, those are open back. Don’t get models over 32 Ohm if you say you’re goingo to plug them into the PC and you don’t have a dedicated amplifier. This combo comes in under budget.

If you want something fashionable you can have a look at momentum on ears 1.0/2.0 or v moda m100 (microsoft store/bestbuy/Amazon). Momentum is warm, m100 is v shaped.

For on ears, V-moda XS is the more balanced and on ear version of the M100.

If you can stretch your budget by $50 the Vmoda M100 or the v-shaped ish Audio-Technica M50x which are both on sale.

Alternatively you can consider the Takstar Pro80 (bassy) or the NVX Audio XPT100 (warmer than neutral and price is lower than average)

A nice upgrade from the M50x a lot of people recommend are the VModa 100, which sound good and has very nice bass: http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK

I suggest the V-Moda crossfade M-100 headphones

http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Crossfade-Over-Ear-Noise-Isolating-Headphone/dp/B00A39PPDK/ref=sr_1_8?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1360010127&sr=1-8&keywords=vmoda

I don’t have these, but if they are anything liket the crossfade LP’s ($100 version of the M-100), then the bass will be excellent. These things are great with detachable kevlar-braided cords and steel chassis.

The cherry on top is V-Moda’s warranty which is a 2-year + Immortal Life 50%

the 2 year is your middle-of-the road warranty that won’t cover accidental damage, etcetcetc. But the immortal life warranty means that if you every destroy (read: accidentally shoot your headphones with a .50 cal sniper), you can tell them your story and get 50% off your next vmoda purchase.

They’re a bit bass-y but they’re clear as hell and have an excellent soundstage, comparable to my open X1s. Plus, they’re more than durable enough for a commute. Look at the amazon warehouse deals and it’ll be right in your price range!
