Ultrasone HFI-15G, the same model of headphones i’ve been using since 2005. I’m on my second pair after replacing the first that lasted eight and a half years of heavy use.

I’ve tried many different types of headphones, but the HFI-15Gs are very comfortable when worn for long periodes of time, and have great audio quality.

Amazon has two listings for Ultrasone HFI-15G and I’m not sure if there’s a difference or what the significance is other than the price.
$85 and $136

The other question is what options do I have for a mic, no detachable cable means v-moda mic is out of the question, then does that only leave antlion mod mic?

Budget: maximum budget is 75$, but would rather not go over 60$

Source: PC, rarely cellphone. No amps.

Requirements for Isolation: High-medium isolation, I live with other people and will mainly use it in my room behind a closed door

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? – No. Won’t carry it anywhere probably

Preferred Type of Headphone – Full-sized is preferred but not required, can also go on-ear.

Preferred tonal balance – Probably overall balanced although I am a bit of a basshead, esp with my music choices.

Past headphones – I had a Razer Electra and Kraken (not my choices, both were gifts) thing that bothered me most was their durability, both broke very very quickly (around a year) nothing special about those headsets that I liked over others.

Preferred Music – Hip-Hop, trap, vaporwave/vaporchill. Noise and industrial sometimes.

What would you like to improve on from your set-up – Survivability and durability are the main thing, I am looking to get a lot of mileage from my headset for my money.

These are the best headsets I can find/think of for my budget, recommendations or reviews of my picks or recommendations for different pairs of headsets are very much welcomed.

I’ve had my beyerdynamic DT-770 Pro 80ohm for more than two years now. I have enjoyed them very much but I would like to try out a new pair of headphones with a totally different sound.

I’m also looking for an inexpensive amp (under $50) to use at home because the 770s can be too quiet sometimes.

Budget $130, but flexible.

Isolation Don’t really care, I’m using these alone.

Type Over Ear or On Ear. Must have earpads like velour or other fabric. no pleather.

Tonal Balance not V-shaped, more forward mids, less bright treble, larger soundstage, open sounding,

Past Headphones

*Superlux HD681 (A poor mans beyerdynamic. Very bright and could be harsh but good value. A little uncomfortable because of the terrible earpads.

*Panasonic HTF-600: warm sounding, someone told me it is a poor mans Sennheiser HD-650.

Usage Gaming (singleplayer and multiplayer) like Fallout 4 and TF2

Music Pop, Rock, Alternative, Ambient, Soundtracks

Headphones I am looking at

Ultrasone HFI-15G I’d like to try on-the-ear and like the smaller/lighter design.

Audio Technica AD700x or AD700

AKG K16PRO I love AKG headbands (the Superlux used a knockoff version and it put little pressure on my head like the beyerdynamic dooes sometimes). It’s expensive, though.

I will switch between the 770s and these headphones if one headphone does something better than the other.

Thanks for the help! 🙂
