A lot of great advice about seeing an optometrist and playing with the settings on your laptop to decrease eye strain (my phone is set to a constant blue light filter and I have my laptop set to change to blue light filter mode at 9pm every night).

Just wanted to add one thing that I think is relevant–POSTURE! Someone mentioned a standing desk and that’s great, but also make sure you’re doing things like putting your laptop at eye level (use big ol’ textbooks you’re not currently using etc.), or get a desk with an elevated back so you can set your monitor at eye level and a keyboard tray so you’re resting your hands at elbow height. I have so many back/shoulder/neck pain problems from constant poor posture throughout alll my years of schooling, including undergrad and they got worse in law school. I have this desk from Amazon and like it, and got a wireless keyboard and mouse to go with it.

Also, if you’re reading from textbooks, get a book stand!! Seriously saved my life. I just used this one because it was simple and easy to carry in my backpack but you can find much nicer ones.

Finally, textbooks are heavy. I don’t know if you’re totally online or partially in person, but if you are having to commute, textbooks will take a toll on your back. I know, because I had to go to the chiropractor from intense back pain in the middle of my first semester 1L. If your school gives you lockers, definitely use those. Otherwise, scan your readings in the library or using a phone app.

Law school really does take a big physical toll on you. Glad you’re already recognizing signs of fatigue–better to try to mitigate it now than later! Best of luck.
