YTA it’s their house they can talk in their bathroom however loud at whatever time they want. It would be nice if they were more considerate, I sure would be, but you would be an AH if you told them to be quiet in their own house when they are doing a favor letting you live there. You get to sleep on your own terms when you have your own place.

In the meantime, get this it will change your life

Female sailor here, I found this bluetooth sleepmask to be a fucking lifesaver on all kinds of deployments.

Anything to do with audio and entertainment e.g. noise-canceling headphones, a small portable bluetooth speaker, hard drive loaded up with shows and movies and music (or pdfs of books if that’s her jam). A reading light that clips/attaches to the bunk. High quality polarized sunglasses. A fuzzy blanket (seriously, just feels like home to have a blanket that someone you love gave to you). 6 tubes of her favorite lip balm.

idk if everyone here is joking about the sex toys, but she probably has her own that she chose and prefers (and I’m sure you already know that). Plus my married best friend who is also currently deployed told me it kind of stressed her out to get sexual gifts from the husband right before going out to sea – just seemed to emphasize that he was thinking/paranoid about 1) not having sex with her and 2) her being horny around other sailors. It’s really not a chill gift imo

How in the world could you sleep with these on?

I like silicone ear plugs or a combo eye mask/headphones set that connects to my phone via Bluetooth.

That kind of product is Over Saturated, some people would have seen it before. I actually thought about selling it

On Amazon a similar product has 8,000+ reviews at a lower price : https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Headphones-TOPOINT-Microphone-Handsfree/dp/B07DG279MB

Also here’s another good website selling a product like that : Sleepathy.com

I took the headphones out and inserted them into slits I cut into my memory foam pillow…pillow speakers FTW! If you need a sleep mask plus headphones, these are awesome!

The noise was an issue briefly.

No reason not to play music, it helps. My experience was that most of the options were uncomfortable for one reason or another. I went with this (Not affiliate, just a product that worked for me)

Switch between Amazon music and Spotify – you’ll quickly figure out what “sleep sounds” actually sounds like to you.

That also gives you something to focus on that isn’t the mask.

My experience with bluetooth earbuds was that they felt unpleasant at best, mildly painful at worst (I’m a side sleeper) but the combined blindfold and speaker concept has worked well for me.

Full disclosure, in the last few weeks I bought a new machine on a recurring billing plan, my old machine was six plus years old and my employer just got bought out (and the new insurance is crap). I paid out of pocket for the new machine, to avoid any future problems, but that’s unique to my situation.

I believe these are the ones I have. My daughter bought them for me. The only lights are when you turn them on to connect them, and when charging. They charge fast, and stay charged for a long time. I’ve had them play all night when I was forget to set my sleep timer, and continue for a few hours into the day, on the days I decide to wait to switch to my “daytime” headset. The charging port is in the back, and tucks away into a slit when not in use, so there is not risk of it getting tangled in longer hair, or settling someplace uncomfortable while wearing.

There is no buzz or tone at all when the battery runs out. On the days I don’t switch, I’ve worn them until they run out. My audiobooks have just stopped playing.

They’re great as both a nighttime sleep headset and sleep mask, and as a daytime headset + headband. They cover my eyes thoroughly to block out light, without pressing on my eyelids. The speakers aren’t uncomfortable by my ears even when I shift one to be right under the ear I’m laying on. Or I can shift them to lay near the ear, and turn the volume up a bit. During the day, I just slide it up above my eyes and wear as a headband.

The control panel is a small box that sits in the middle of the front. I’ve never noticed it to be uncomfortable or too easy to trigger while sleeping.

You’re welcome. And you’re right, the self-hypnosis videos are really beneficial to listen to. I personally listen to them at night as I am going to sleep. This eyemask has Bluetooth speakers in it and you can use it at night or in treatments. (I have found having total blackness in treatments makes the “ride” more interesting.)
When you get to the 84mg mark, you may experience some pleasant visuals. (Would suggest the binaural videos to start out with – but that’s just my opinion.) Good luck! 🙂

Of course! I purchased it before I stopped shopping at Amazon, but here’s the link anyways: https://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Headphones-TOPOINT-Microphone-Handsfree/dp/B07DG279MB There are plenty of other brands and versions, but this one works great so far!

Sure! This is the type I personally use: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07DG279MB/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_eGpDFb3V6D5CE

I’ve tried a few different styles and I tend to like these the most for comfort purposes, I find them the least intrusive.

I also use this fan for white noise, though I also have a white noise machine. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP6CY4G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fab_YHpDFb4KMH3BR

I hope this helps! I know how hard it is to be a light sleeper. It was more or less okay when I lived on my own, but I’ve spent so much time and money over the last few years since getting married on trying to find a way to block out any noise my husband makes. My poor husband tries so hard to be as quiet as possible but it’s just me, I can literally hear anything. So far throwing all these items at it have somewhat helped.

Also some other ideas I had:

What in specific wakes you up about what your sister does? Is it the sound of the bedframe creeking? The door opening? Footsteps on the floor? Because another thing we did is get a really plush shag carpet in the bedroom to muffle any footsteps as much as possible. I find a thick big carpet is great for killing all the sounds that come from hardwood floors, or even if you have a thinner carpet it might not be enough. You could also look for a more solid bed frame and WD 40 your doors or any drawers that open.

I want to jump on here and also suggest an eye mask that has blue tooth headphones in it. I put on a podcast and can be fast asleep in less than 10 minutes!

I have an eye mask that has bluetooth speakers in it. I put on things like the Sleep With Me podcast, or an audiobook or a sleepytime playlist. It’s really REALLY helped me get to sleep.
