Here’s my new puzzle station! I wanted a bigger space for puzzling. We got a large drafting table, a gooseneck light, and a neoprene puzzle mat.
This neoprene mat is great. I considered felt first, but when I read a review of a felt mat, the reviewer said she couldn’t slide her puzzle pieces. The neoprene is sticky enough to hold them in place, but I can still slide them easily. This mat also has a grippy back that helps it hang on to the table. It’s not adhered to the table in any way, it just sits on top.
This setup will hold up to a 2000 piece puzzle (38” x 29”).

Upon setting this up, we realized the clip on lights will be in the way for 2000 piece puzzles (38” x 29”) so the next step is placing a shelf above the table (or bookcases next to it) to set the puzzle box on and clip the lights to. Right now the clip lights are holding the mat taut, so that might be an issue to contend with later when we move the lights.
