You need to take the line output of the receiver (monitor out), and wire it to something like this:

Thank you so much. Are there any more budget options? Would this work?

Nothing wrong with ’em. Unfortunately they don’t have a headphone output, so the TL:DR from the whole conversation is you’re gonna need a headphone amp. Something like this should solve your problem.

Yes, LP120X has a built in phono stage preamp. That Behringer amp is very basic. Amplificatore may be a bit better. Sabaj Audio PHA2 should good for the ATH-M40X. Or the Pro-Ject Head Box S may be a bit better.

Other AT turntables are AT-LPW40WN and AT-LPW30TK.

A better turntable is the Pro-Ject Debut S III then add a phono stage preamp.

If you have basic headphones and a low budget https://www.amazon.com/TNP-Portable-Headphones-Amplifier-Headphone/dp/B076JC45M4 is $25 however it lacks preouts to continue the signal on to a speaker amp.

You only need a headphone amp then.

If on a low budget the https://www.amazon.com/TNP-Portable-Headphones-Amplifier-Headphone/dp/B076JC45M4 may be sufficient for basic headphones and the Sony.

The contacts and volume pots are oxidized. Search for YouTube videos on how to apply CRC QD Electronic Cleaner or Deoxit to a receiver. If that does not work then the receiver needs to be serviced.

If you are not using speakers you can connect a headphone amp to the turntable set to LINE output.

Basic TNP $26.

Better $99 JDS Labs Atom has a 2 input switch and 2 gain settings, Liquid Spark, Schiit Magni, or Monoprice adds a switch to a USB input DAC to use with your computer.

You need headphone amplification. The output of the LP60 is only line level.

Basic: https://www.amazon.com/TNP-Portable-Headphones-Amplifier-Headphone/dp/B076JC45M4

Better: JDS Labs Atom $99 has a 2 input switch and 2 gain settings, Liquid Spark $109, Schiit Magni $99, Monoprice $83 adds a switch to a USB input DAC to use with your computer.

Or most receivers or integrated amps have a headphone jack.
