I heard a pair of Thonet and Vander speakers at Sams club a few weeks ago. Even in the loud store, these things pounded. I was really inpressed at just how much sound was coming out of these things. The bass was especially impressive. I can’t speak for their clarity or accuracy, but I was impressed regardless.

Hi everybody. I would prefer to spend around US $100-130 but I can spend upwards to US $200.

I am currently looking at the PB42X and it seems fine but I’m reading some of the reviews and it mentions that I should consider getting a subwoofer for “serious music enjoyment” (whatever that means). I primarily listen to EDM and Hip-hop with the occasional indie so would a subwoofer change anything dramatically? If so, what subwoofer would be nice enough that would fit in my price range?

Thank you

Another thing I am looking at are these. Are these by itself better than the PB42X + subwoofer?

This is the exact setup I have at my place, but the speakers are for my girlfriend and she is looking for something simple, we went with these in the end, the price is good, they seem to have what she needs and the reviews are decent.

I have a pair of Thonet & Vander Kurbis BT speakers

and I have an extra subwoofer, that I was wondering if I could plug into the speaker out output, so I have two lo-fi speaker wires connected into the + – plug?

I am looking at powered speakers. I will be using these mainly for listening to music in my office. Source will be my PC, and hopefully, eventually a vinyl setup. I have max $150 to spend. I am looking at a powered setup for simplicity. I could probably be swayed into an amp/non powered combo, but I think it’s a stretch at $150. I need something good for all genres of music, good bass, I understand a 2.0 bookshelf setup won’t be like have a separate subwoofer. I have been going back and forth among about 10 pair of speakers and I just can’t make a decision.
