I use the McKenzie pillow (McKenzie created the leading method of back pain therapy). It’s just a small roll under the curve of your neck, and it works great for big cans as well! You can get one at Amazon – https://www.amazon.com/Original-McKenzie-Cervical-Support-Sleeping/dp/B007G4TVI0

I’ve had this for about 6-8 years and it’s been amazing for neck support. It just slips in front of your pillow inside the pillowcase. It’s great for travel too (when it’s safe to do so again).

I use a McKenzie neck roll https://www.amazon.ca/OPTP-Original-McKenzie-Cervical-Roll/dp/B007G4TVI0# and it sucks the least of all pillow configurations I’ve tried.
It still sucks though, but everything does.
