Get yourself into a gym. Talk to the people there. They can give you advice and most people in a gym are willing to show someone something new. It sort of validates the work they’ve put into their own bodies. Don’t buy a lot of expensive stuff. Eat more. Calories are #1. Get lot’s of protein. I use this. Chocolate is easily the best flavor.

You probably only need to do strength training and not bulking. You will see changes in your body quickly if you stick to a routine. Vary your workouts so that you don’t get bored and work all of your body. This is very important. You don’t want muscle imbalances. Stretch consistently. Flexibility is uber important too.

Check out Chris Grayson. You can probably learn something from his videos. I train at the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu place down the street from him. He’s pretty intense, but cool.
Also check out the Men’s Health Gym Bible and Home Workout Bible. You can learn a lot from these.
