Before you laugh, this program is from John McCallum who was a Firestation Chief and wrote articles for Strength & Health back in the late 60’s. He had a series of articles about exactly what you’re saying, a man looking to get in shape to be a better firefighter.

You can pick up that book I linked to that has the specific article in it, the articles are called “The Super Bulk and Power Thing” and it’s broken into 3 parts, or get a book dedicated to the program inspired by McCallum:
