I’m planning on keeping my main monitor connected to my gaming desktop via DP and switch inputs though, because switches have a hard time with high refresh rates.

I’m not sure but I would rather just manually change the input on each monitor at that point.. or if you would want like Laptop A to display on Monitor 1 and 2 at same time, then switch to laptop B on monitor 1 and 2 at the same time you need a 4×2 like this https://www.amazon.com/TESmart-Monitor-Switch-Updated-Support/dp/B083NGXHWG

As far as something to switch back and forth between 1 monitor at a time though, you might just need 2 HDMI switches like https://www.amazon.com/Fosmon-HD8061-Automatic-Switching-Switcher/dp/B01D3JE0MS but then you would need two HDMI coming out of each Laptop. One going to each switch
