This isn’t bad but for $50 I always recommend the Tecware Phantom
Now I linked the 87 key version but the 104 goes in/out of stock often on Amazon so just keep checking and is typically still just $50ish.
The lists of pluses vs the listed keyboard above is too many to list on mobile phone but suffice it to say it’s a tremendous value including features that are typically on keebs twice its price.
The only “con” is that the Tecware uses Outemu switches not cherry but they do have cherry stem so ez to swap keycaps. However Outemu switches are fairly close to their cherry counterpart especially the blues.

A membrane keyboard, YOU DUMMY THICC IN THE HEAD BOI (sorry just been wanting to say that all day) but yeah, get a mechanical, a good one for about 40$ is the Tecware phantom mechanical keyboard, you can get it in otemu blues, browns, and reds. If you want a full size keyboard it’s only five bucks more. Here’s the link to it on Amazon https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=mp_s_a_1_1_sspa?keywords=tecware+phantom+87+mechanical+keyboard&qid=1559280019&s=gateway&sprefix=tecware+&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

You can game on any keyboard, most people refer to mechanical keyboards as “gaming” but you don’t need one of those to game, the input latency is what people would look for but unless you game on a professional and competitive level the keyboard you use will not make a difference, you can however use extra keys on a keyboard for macros and other uses this is mostly done for MMOs not really needed for FPS, I don’t know what type of games you play though. I’ll add one that’s a sold choice and has been reviewed on youtube.

Gmmk isn’t the most budget hotswap board out there. Go to Amazon and search hotswap keyboard. You can find some real good stuff.
For example: Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard, RGB led, Outemu RED Switch https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_WjJLEbM2DS48N
And you’re paying a crazy amount for aliaz due to lack of proper shipping atm. If you’re not lubing switches, you should prioritize lube over branding. Look at Taeha’s sound demos with simple gat browns. Even a cheap switch will sound good lubed, but the reverse is rarely true. IMO get gat browns and lube. It’ll be much more silent than you’re used to if stock oem is all you’ve used.
·
Neither, I bought Tecware Phantom 87 Key Mechanical Keyboard, RGB led, Outemu RED Switch.
Build quality is amazing and for me at this price point, this keyboard seemed to be the best.
·
Yes but their is also this one from the same company that is also hot swappable :

Their current offerings are their first entry into this space and the quality is in line with the Chinese oem equivalents. That is not to say its bad but its not a particularly high quality product and at its price tag you can get cheaper to experiment with.
Also I wouldn’t pay to much attention to the noise dampening foam comments, that is often blamed be people that do not know how to properly modify boards.
If you want to go down the GMMK route, wait till 2021 save your money and get the GMMK pro when it launches. Just be ready on the day it launches as that thing is going to absolutely fly out.
You could also look at the Tecware Phantom, is you like the GMMK. Its cheaper and hotswap with good rgb, it is also a complete board. I have also owned this one and it was great once modded.

For £5 more, you can get the Phantom Tecware which also has hotswappable capabilities. In the future if you get tired of blue switches, you can change it out for something else when you have the funds.
Personally, I don’t find blues that enjoyable to type on but fun to game on. It might be different for you, but I would suggest to go with Cherry brown as it is great to type on as well game. It has the same tactile bump you would get from blue, just removes the noise.
·
This might be a bit out of your price range but this is one of the best budget keyboards its called the Techware phantom and it has red switches. The best dragclicking mouse I have come across is the model D i can get round 45 cps with that. Hope this helps <3
·
Today I bought an amazon special (lol) the version of the Tecware Phantom. This is the board, which says it’s hotswap, but only for Outemou switches. Two questions-is this true, will no other switch fit? And second, if a any switch would fit with slight modification (like clipping a plastic stem, for instance) would that work? I got it to act as a test bed for some mods I want to try out on my more expensive boards, and of course I don’t want to ruin a bunch of switches but a few at a time to mod, drop in and test would be acceptable.
·
You may have a hard time finding a board with Cherry MX switches at that price, but the Tecware Phantom TKL is a solid board with Outemu Red switches and RGB for under $50. It also has a standard layout, so custom keycaps won’t be problem.
·
If you dont mind outemu switches, the Tecware Phantom is the best budget mech you can buy IMO. It used to come in brown switches but it looks like they took it off the site but they do come in blue and red switches which are hotswap. Not a 75% but a TKL at only $46. Really really good for the price
·
Not gateron switches but outemu, the Tecware Phantom is one of the best budget mech keyboards imo. Background lighting (rgb with many modes), comes in red and blue switches (mine came with browns but looks like they took it off the site), multimedia keys, and at only $46
·
If you’re willing to spend $45 this is a good cheap one for hard pressers. I’ve tried cherry browns and reds that hurt my fingers and just decided to try this one and haven’t had issues. They’re an off brand of cherries but is a comfortable KB.
·
Does this keyboard look like a good red switch base keyboard for the price? If not, are there any alternatives within the same price range (around $60-70 max) that are better for a specific reason?
·
Can’t recommend something specific, but searching “mechanical keyboard linear” on Amazon returns many models and brands. This one looks pretty good but I can’t be of much help sorry.
·
Check out the Tecware Phantom. Full RGB, standard keycaps and layout, has outemu blue, red, and brown variants, and has very sturdy build quality. One of the best keyboards for your money. There’s also a full size version if you’re into that.

If your on the market for a budget board i highly recommend saving 20 more dollars (45.99) and getting the Tecware Phantom. I purchased https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=sr_1_25?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1546646873&sr=1-25&keywords=cherry%2Bred&th=1 it has red switches, rgb software, braided cable and routing, and a very solid and minimalist build.
·
I don’t miss the num pad at all. Being able to center the keyboard a little more and not have to reahc as far for the mouse is quite nice. Keyboard is the tecware phantom with YMDK Retro keycaps. Check out r/MechanicalKeyboards if you’re curious about this stuff, they know a lot more than I do

Sorry in advance for long post:
I am new to the mechanical keyboard community and I am getting a keyboard soon. I have seen reviews on a gaming keyboard called the Tecware Phantom 87 (https://www.amazon.com/Tecware) and it looks great. Problem is that I need a very silent keyboard, and the preset switches are kind of loud from what I hear in the reviews. I just need some linear switches that support RGB lighting and are silent, “as said above” to fit into the keyboard. Yes, I know on the amazon description it says that it is only hot-swappable with outemu switches but multiple reviews had said otherwise and even put something like a gateron switch in the keyboard and using it. If the extremely specific switches that I am asking for are too rare or don’t work with the keyboard, let me know. I am open to all criticism and advice, especially since I do not know anything at all about mechanical keyboard builds.
·
Hi, currently have this https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L
Looking to upgrade to something nicer all around – hopefully with Cherry Brown Switches.
Will I notice a big jump between these (ouetmu) and the Cherrys- or with the board quality in general?
·
Cannot recomment Tecware Phantom RGB enough, for “low cost” entry into custom keyboarding. If you want to dip toes into custom keyboards, I STRONGLY recommend a keyboard with hot-swappable keys. I have this keyboard with Otemu Browns. Then realized I wanted to add a shroud. Then changed key caps. Then lubed switches. I’m still under $100 all-in. And I did these steps incrementally. Bought keyboard when on sale for $45. Used for a year. Then got into looking at keycaps. I knew I wanted browns, but you could experiment with reds, or other without needing to worry about sodering or desodering. Here’s link (I don’t see option for browns here, but sure you can search for it) https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=tecware%2Bphantom%2B87&qid=1638551573&s=electronics&sr=1-3&th=1

Is the tecware phantom tkl worth the extra over this one?
·
Your understanding of “lukewarm deal” is absolutely correct. It’s not significantly cheaper than the standard retail price. Of course, I’m in the US and pricing here is far different than what is found across the Atlantic. I’d see what the regular pricing is for each item and see if the bundle makes it much cheaper.
Personally, I prefer actual mechanical switches like Cherry MX, Gateron, Kailh (the good kind), or even Outemu (they’re alright). I pretty much exclusively use the Tecware Phantom (ten keyless for gaming and full 104 for work). The software is pretty good and the onboard RGB control is awesome. Plus the fact that they are hot swap sockets means you can easily replace a switch if it goes bad. Do note that they are Outemu based hot swap sockets, so you can only swap in Outemu switches without having to do any modification.
If you’re willing to do the work, you can also clip off 1-2mm off each of the legs and swap in any switch. I did this to both of my keyboards with Gateron reds. Sounds stupid (/r/MechanicalKeyboards would probably have me shot), but it made using my keyboard a much better experience.
·
The GMMK TKL is quite good, but if you want the same exact board, (almost) minus any glorious branding check out this bad boy: https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L?th=1
It uses Outemu hot-swap sockets, but nice switches like the Gazzew Boba U4T will fit, amongst others.
·
This was my first board, there are cheaper, but not with per-key rgb and hotswap.

Favourite part would have to be my keyboard. Saw it in a post here whilst looking for something cheap and now I’ve had it for nearly a year and am loving it.

>red/silent red switch keyboard
Do you have any suggestions for a keyboard? There are a ton of cheap cheap ones but by random brands
How does this look?
·
He doesn’t need a new monitor, that Asus 1080p is more than enough for a 3060ti system. What he needs is a good mechanical keyboard. He will have to learn to be a good typer, and he will be using that keyboard very often, so it pays to have a good one.
You should check out this one:
https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L/
Also, here’s some reading if you like to know more about the enthusiast community’s recommendations:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/8mtdye/mechanical_gaming_keyboards_heres_why_the_big/
I recommend taking the kiddo to check out some of the different switches, if possible, so he knows what kind he likes. Also make sure to check if he likes the tenkeyless small form factor boards or a full one with numpad.
Let me know if you need help finding a right keyboard for him!

Its a TECHWARE phantom RGB mechanical keyboard. i believe its also on amazon
https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=rgb+mechanical+keyboard+phantom&qid=1606702879&sr=8-3

The keyboard is the Tecware Phantom 87. It’s a budget mechanical RGB keyboard. https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L
It has good reviews. Here is a picture of the reviews that I heard about what I was saying about the keyboard not being active during startup: https://imgur.com/a/5pO6viU

It really comes down to do you want a bump or not. In any cheap pre-made mechanical keyboard, they will be using either MX Browns or equivalents. They are by far the most polarizing switch out there, though. MX Browns just give a very tiny bump whenever you click the switch, while reds do not. The same is true of Gateron, Outemu, etc., which are all cheaper versions than Cherry switches and are typically what is found in budget boards. People don’t like browns because they are not as tactile as some more expensive switches, but for a budget board they are decent in my opinion. I have them in one of mine.
This keyboard is generally regarded as a good introductory board. Or you can go with Redragon boards. I have two Redragons and love them, but considering they use the same switches as the board I linked, I would say go with the one I linked. It’s <$50. Or if you want to spend more then you could go with this HyperX board, which is a decent manufacturer.
I would personally choose the first board and if you don’t like red switches then return it for brown ones.
·
That’s actually not that bad for a mechanical keyboard. This is probably one of the least expensive boards I’ve been able to find that still has decent RGB: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B079HQM71L/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_TlLuFbD5BVPWD

Tecware Phantom (Outemu only hotswap)
·
·
Pretty sure it’s a Tecware Phantom. Source, I own this keyboard
Edit: Theirs may not be the 87 key, I think I see the hint of a numpad.
·
I was looking to invest in a budget mechanical keyboard for my build, and I came across this:
https://www.amazon.com/Tecware-Phantom-Mechanical-Keyboard-Outemu/dp/B079HQM71L?th=1
Does the Tecware Phantom 87 come with brown switches, or is the keyboard with brown switches just OOS? The Tecware Phantom 104 comes with red, blue, and brown switches (going with brown ones), but I’m leaning towards the 87 due to the 87 model being TKL.
Can anyone confirm this before I invest? Thank you!

ducky’s are definitely not the best but ive heard good things about the shine.
this board was what i used for a while and i really liked it. has good rgb settings with its software and is a nice board for <$50. then theres this board which ive heard really good things about.
·
Own this. It’s alright but feature poor.
If you’re going to spend $50ish bucks I usually suggest the Tecware Phantom 87 with your choice of switches.
Similar build quality and just TROUNCES the corsair in features for the price. AND it has standard bottom row so if you want to bling out with some $20 pudding caps it’s ready to go and looks dope AF.
·
I HIGHLY recommend this keyboard for it’s small form factor, steel backplate, RGB lighting, and double-shot keycaps for only $40.

>The Tecware Phantom Rgb Tkl
lol sorry, i got it Here. i wasnt searching tkl before so i was getting the one with brown and blue switch.
·
Are authentic cherry switches worth the extra change? (14.96 to be exact) I’m looking to purchase a new keyboard for myself, as I strictly come from a membrane background. I have no prior experience with mechanical switches so I won’t be able to come across a difference, but in your opinion what do you think I should. Opt out for authentic cherry switches or will the knockoffs suffice for my now. Thanks!
TLDR: Will I be okay if spend a little less on outemu switches rather then purchasing cherry.
