Razer products will always prompt you to install their software every time you plug it in. This may cause issues with the “no software installation” policy.

Tecware Phantom gets my vote. Comes in red (linear), brown (tactile), and blue (clicky) switches. Keyboard RGB is fully customizable from the keyboard itself, so no software required (you just use Function and Insert/Delete/Home/End/PgUp/PgDn to cycle through the patterns and then Function + = to select a color). Well worth the $50 price tag I paid for each of mine, so seeing it at $40 makes it a steal.

Find out what you like first. If you have a Best Buy near you, they usually have mechanical keyboards on display.

Some people like clicky (blues), others like linear (red/black), and some like a happy medium (browns).

Then just buy a Tecware Phantom with the switches you like. FYI, the “modular” switches are only good with Outemu switches. Gateron and Cherry switches won’t fit without modification.

I second that, I recently bought this keyboard and it’s great, only problem is i’m not use to the keys being so light to press, its easy to activate a key just by resting my finger on it. I got the 102 key version with red switches, it’s 5$ more. Best budget mechanical keyboard imo. Tecware Phantom

Oh none taken lol. Planning on getting this keyboard when I know exactly what I get from my mom. It’s all been good to start but it’s time to finally bring up to par

Never understood why people liked the NumPad, but it is available in a 104 Key version here. Red switches only

I purchased the Tecware Phantom with red switches and it’s been fantastic. I really like it’s clean, logo-less look.
