Ignore the first one where you have actually stepped on it (the scale is recalibrating). Make sure you stand the same way on the scale every time. I have this scale and it works pretty good as long as I set it the same way, make sure to ignore the first reading, and also step on it twice to make sure I’m stepping the same way. It’s also less than $40 so it’s a good fit. I use it on my tile floor every day, and also store it in a cupboard below the sink between uses and it has been consistent.
