This is what I use. It’s amazing in my opinion. I would definitely get more than one though. Just so you have a back up.

Yes; I use a fitted matress cover that has a quilted top but a waterproof lining underneath. Princess has a latex allergy; the result is that we have a clean matress but we can pull the waterproof cover off at any time. And the cover feels comfortable because of the quilt on top of it.

i used to be a pisser too. they sell waterproof mattress protectors pretty cheap on amazon

OK- first of all I’m glad you’re seeing doctors so that you can eliminate serious health problems. Second, NO ONE should make fun of you. Incontinence is not easy to deal with, and I am proud of you for reaching out.

Now, I take care of my elderly Alzheimer’s father who has bladder issues as well, so pull up a chair young lady, because I am about to offer you a few solutions that may make your life easier. I’ve gone through a lot of trial and error over the years regarding this, and your fairy godmother is here to help.

First and foremost, I would invest in a waterproof mattress protector. Get two. If one gets soiled, pop it into the wash and use the other. It also keeps your mattress fresh, and I even have one because I’m a spaz and have forgotten to cap the bottle of water I’ve brought to be more than once. I’ve had some success with this one:

Waterproof mattress protector

Then, I suggest a few more (darker colored are easier to maintain), fitted sheets and put them into wash rotation. Amazon basics has some decent, inexpensive options.

Also, an enzyme cleaner (even a gallon sized version of Nature’s Miracle) as an additive to the wash is a game changer. It helps with laundry issues, breaks up uric acid, and smells pretty damn good. Nature’s Miracle large

Now, and don’t underestimate how this can make your life hella easier is this: get yourself a large, waterproof mattress pad and some good, old fashioned elastic straps. This pad can be placed over the sheets, fitted sheet, whatever…..and secured to almost any sized bed by adjusting the tension in the strap length of the alligator clips. Holy moly, this thing has survived countless washes for me, is pretty comfortable and breathable, and can be switched out in a snap. It’s my go to in case my father has a middle of the night emergency, or I didn’t plan accordingly for an unexpected accident. Here’s an example of the pad: Mattress washable pad. or these (I have both) Mattress pad other version And here’s the clips: Mattress long straps with clips.

Don’t undervalue the power of wee-wee pads or pull ups. They’re great in a pinch or to provide peace of mind while you’re going through this, and you WILL get through this.

Wishing you the best of luck, my little Reddit sister. You’ve got a big sister in NY here rooting for you and feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions or need any help.
