When my wife and I got our own place after college 4 years ago we bought these for $85. The price seems to have increased but camelcamelcamel seems to show they’ve been under $100 a few times this year.
I’m sure someone can tell me why these aren’t “good” but they’re in perfect shape 4 years later and serve our needs perfectly.
Just make sure not to use metal tools with them. If it matters we wash them by hand instead of the dishwasher.

T-Fal Ultimate Hard Anodized “Titanium” Nonstick. (There is no Titanium involved- it’s their marketing term for their premier nonstick coating) – I love them. I think I got them for around $130, they have gone down to like $103, now I see them $150ish but Amazon changes the prices ALL THE TIME so you have to just keep looking around.
I got the 12-piece set, and they make a 14 and even 17 piece … but I have plenty of other stuff, and really, I had ordered a stand-alone frying pan from this collection (which is fucking awesome in it’s own right…) and I liked it so much I ordered the set. In my humble opinion, they look, feel, and certainly cook like they’re WAY MORE EXPENSIVE.
Some people will only mess with All_Clad or Calphalon (I had their most expensive set in 1998. Wasn’t bad, didn’t suck, but color me not impressed for like $750…) – I have always been a fan of T-Fal.
Just saying this because it might be something for your Mom. Hope whatever happens works out!

And I can highly recommend them to anyone – They’re extremely high-quality and should last for years, but they’re not $350 Calphalon (overpriced!) or $500 All-Clad (overrated!) etc.
