First, I just have to say it: expensive is not the same as good or effective. Especially in skincare. Products like Creme de LaMer cost astronomical prices for very cheap ingredients because of marketing and the prestige of their name. That stuff is just water, mineral oil, petrolatum and wax. Effective for dry skin but nothing you couldn’t pick up at CVS for $5.
That being said, there’s nothing wrong to treating someone you love to something luxurious! Some of the pricier excellent moisturizers include Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro, Drunk Elephant Protini, Sunday Riley Tidal, Tatcha Water Cream, Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb, Sisley Paris Black Rose Skin Infusion, and Sulwhasoo Concentrated Ginseng Renewing Cream.
The cream you choose should come down to whether she has oily, dry, balanced, or combo skin and whether she has any allergies or sensitivities. This is so important. She could wind up with acne, a rash or worse if you don’t consider the ingredients. Also, if she’s nursing she absolutely has to avoid products with salicylic acid and retinol. There’s a lot to consider.
