How has the patch been going?

Wanted to share a nice cheap finding:
https://www.amazon.com/Status-Audio-Closed-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Status+Audio+CB-1+Closed+Back+Studio+Monitor+Headphones&qid=1622570943&s=musical-instruments&sr=1-3

These are pretty nice headphones that have the correct impedance for the Stomp. Not too expensive, either. I like them for this purpose, so I can leave my actual studio headphones on my audio interface.

These are the headphones. The laptop is a Dell Latitude E6430s. It’s only about a year old.

I can get some sort of portable external audio interface if needed but I was really hoping I could just plug and play. Audio quality doesn’t need to be super high end, but I’d like to hear well enough to mix things so the panning isn’t all janky.

I 2nd the Status Audio CB-1, not only does it shits on both of those, it also gives you the option of being a Headset w/ V-Moda BOOM Pro mic. There may be a Discount soon w/ Black Friday, Not 100% maybe contact the company and see if there is any. I’ve had good experience with them.

These, k52 or the Samson, which would you go with? I have a zalman mic already so I could use that till I get something better. I like the cb1 due to
Removable cable, would make them work well with boom pro mic.

Want to buy my aunt some headphones, all she wants are stuff that would block out the sound of crying babies on airlines. Would these do the job?

CB-1 Studio. Comprei a semana passada e estou 100% satisfeito.

O problema é serem “closed”, o que para escritório pode ser complicado se tiveres alguém a chamar por ti.

SHP9500+Boompro or CB-1+Boompro. I recommend both to anyone looking to do away with overpriced “gaming” headsets and actually get a pair of great headphones. The Philips SHP9500 are a great pair of open back headphones and they can be bought for around $55 on Newegg. The Status Audio CB-1 are a great pair of closed back headphones and can be bought on amazon for $55 as well. Once you figure out which one is more important for you, open or closed, then all you’ll need is a Vmoda Boompro mic which is $30 and also on amazon. So all n’ all you’re looking at $85 for a headphone+mic combo that will blow any $200+ gaming headset out of the water.

The Philips SHP9500 are a great pair of open back headphones and they can be bought for around $50 on Newegg. The Status Audio CB-1 are a great pair of closed back headphones and can be bought on amazon for $70 as well. Once you figure out which one is more important for you, open or closed, then all you’ll need is a Vmoda Boompro mic which is $30 and also on amazon. So all n’ all you’re looking at $80-$100 for a headphone+mic combo that will blow any $200+ gaming headset out of the water.

gotcha, so what you’re looking for is a pair of these bad boys.

If that doesn’t take your fancy, a pair of Status SM-CB1s is a solid choice, really nice, natural response and great isolation!

For the most part this is true. Getting a great headphone and a great external microphone goes a long way. The cheapest gaming headsets will sound worse than the cheapest headphones.

My recommendation for OP:

Status Audio CB-1 this mic this stand

and an optional upgrade (makes your headphones sound way better)

I have a compact home theater system built into a makeshift desk and gaming station, that’s where I do most of my listening. Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 bookshelf speakers, a Klipsch synergy sub 12, and a Yamaha RX-V385 receiver (swapped since the pic was taken). I’m still troubleshooting odd problems but overall really happy with the setup. If you’re interested in something similar or getting a full sound system r/HTBuyingGuides and r/budgetaudiophile have info on where to start.

For headphones I’ve got a pair of Status Audio CB-1 studio monitors, and I very highly reomend them. They sound gorgeous for how cheap they are, the only downsides are lackluster build quality and flat response curve to the sound. They come with both a short and a 10+ foot cord, and with a carrying case travel alright but I wouldn’t use them every day on a commute.

I always recommend a similar but easier route. Just get a pair of headphones that have a detachable cable. Replace that cable with a mic cable.

I use this combo.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_5uxmFbCYB8BZM

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4vxmFb7B0XHDA

The mic is out, but there a tons of alternatives. I also have these headphones, but they are quite large (good my big head) and have an open-back design. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ENMK1DW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rxxmFbS7XPT73

Both pairs of headphones with that mic have been way better than any gaming headset I used prior, and that includes Astros. It’s easy and doesn’t involve a splitter and all that. If you go that route, just be sure to get a pair with a detachable cable. The only convenience you’d be losing out of would be the potential for wireless, if that matters to you, but I recommend against wireless for sound.

Gaming headsets blow in general.

I’m a huge fan of pairing these headphones
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_e2ZlFbCKFBNH6

With this mic
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BJ17WKK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_A3ZlFb1QDH8HX

Any pair of headphones with a detachable mic would do, too.

Edit: looks like there’s a delay with the mic. There are others out there, though. Here’s one.

Not sure what you’re going with when you say “make it much easier to use voice effects for voice chat in games”.

But when it comes to headphones with a removable mic there’s 3 different scenarios:

  1. You pick any headphone you like and attach a ModMic or you use a usb desk mic.
  2. You pick a headphone with a 3.5 mm jack in, in combination with a V-Moda boompro.

A list of decent headphones with a 3.5 mm in that will work:

Then there’s also the newer Hyper X Cloud alpha where you can detach the mic and the cable and the Coolermaster MH752/MH751. Those are just pre-packaged solutions to what people already found out some time ago.

But either of these will give you: excellent comfort, good build quality, a removable cable and a removable microphone for 75 or 100 $.

yeah I have to agree with u/kfm946 here.

When it comes to gaming headphones or headsets there’s 3 different scenarios:

  1. You spend big and go with the Audeze mobius, that has all the bells and whistles.
  2. You pick any headphone you like and attach a ModMic or you use a usb desk mic.
  3. You pick a headphone with a 3.5 mm jack in, in combination with a V-Moda boompro.

A list of decent headphones with a 3.5 mm jack (that is not proprietarily recessed or anything):

The newer Hyper X Cloud alpha where you can detach the mic and the cable and the Coolermaster MH752/MH751 are just pre-packaged solutions to what people already found out some time ago.

M40X or I would even go with these over either. The M40x’s and CB-1’s are both more neutral sounding headphones vs the M50x’s

If you just want to change, that’s perfectly ok.

Your original explanation spreads disinformation that someone who doesn’t know better may believe as true and continue with false understanding.

$50-75 isn’t really much of a budget. About the closest thing that I might recommend would be the:

Status CB-1 + Vmoda BoomPro

Other budget recommendations include:

Sivga SV007 + VModa BoomPro

or

Takstar Pro 82 + KetDirect Microphone

Mouse definitely logitech unless you need very specific type of mouse like Naga that has 12 side buttons or something

keyboard I didn’t feel much of difference between the two. But atm I’m using the new Logitech wireless mouse G613. I hate wires and Logitech finally made wireless keyboard that doesn’t have any lag

for headphone… i wouldn’t use either one. it’s so trash for the price; not just talking about kraken but “gaming” headset/headphone in general

for around same price I recommend:

Status Audio CB-1 Closed Back Studio Monitor Headphone

https://www.amazon.com/Status-Audio-Closed-Monitor-Headphones/dp/B01BDX1IVW/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8

and then just buy Sony ECMCS3 Clip style Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone

https://www.amazon.com/Sony-ECMCS3-Omnidirectional-Stereo-Microphone/dp/B0058MJX4O/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8

now if you want to go best bang for buck; Koss Porta Pro Black On Ear Headphones

https://www.amazon.com/Koss-PortaPro-Headphones-with-Case/dp/B0755N6CSR/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&qid=1448205725

now that one it looks so filmsy and etc… and yes it is but sound quality wise this thing can go par with up to in some cases 150ish dollar range headphones
