I bought a Bluetooth speaker for this exact purpose. I specifically looked for one with physical buttons for volume up/down, play/pause, skip forward/back etc, so I could do all of those functions without having to open my eyes or turn on my phone screen. I settled on https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9KM9SY/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 which I’ve been using for 6 months now. Works flawlessly. I built a small frame for it and secured it to the underside of a shelf above my headboard, so I can reach the buttons without moving much. Plenty loud enough to be heard above my fan and AC.
