I just bought the MDR100ABN/B for $144 from amazon warehouse and they have been amazing so far. However, I would not pay full retail for these in my opinion. $219 seems a bit steep.

Hrm, looked them up and they just happen to be the on sale the next ~3hrs on Amazon – tempted to pick these up….$199 right now

I have the MDR-100ABN aka the Sony h.ear. They look almost identical to these.
As far as I can tell the ANC is not quite as nice as a Bose QC35. I did get the chance to use them on a long car ride and on the airplane and I can say that it filters out enough that the everyday user wouldn’t be disappointed.

I’ve been using this for the past 3 months and its AMAZING.

I would recommend Sony’s MDR100ABN as your over-ear solution. It’s a great mid price tier selection covering your bases on sound quality, mic, and durability. It’s usually $300 USD but you can generally find them for cheaper now that MDR1000X has been out for a while. For your travel oriented selection I would recommend Sennheiser’s HD-1. Great sound quality and build. The only issue I have had with it is that the audio cable protrudes from under the neckband so it may be slightly uncomfortable depending on your shoulder size.

Not open back, but the Sony H.ear On might be something to check out. They also have active noise cancelling.

Sony MDR100ABN/B Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CQXGM5K/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_hHFnAbB2E5T8B
These are a great pair of budget Bluetooth noise canceling headphones. If you look at the wirecutter’s review, these would have been one of their top picks if they weren’t so expensive at the time. I got them on sale for $180 and I’ve seen them hit that price a few times since then. I’ve no doubt there are better options for around $350, but I’m very happy with these for the price.
