What is the opinion of Reddit about the
Sony MDR-1A Headphone – Black (International Version U.S. Warranty May not Apply)?

I love my Sony MDR1a’s! I bought them from Amazon with the international warranty, and they’ve worked great!

if you want isolation, you don’t want open headphones

that being said, the standard recommendation here is probably Audio Technica M50x, but also check out Sony MDR-100AAP, Sony MDR-1A (international version available on amazon for $199) or Beats Solo2 (the white sheep of the Beats family)

They’re the international version, so they’ll be the exact same but might not have a guarantee, it probably depends on the seller

Recommendations for closed-backs under $300 are a tough proposition for me right now.

A few of the popular options that get recommended around here I don’t like or have real problems with. And a couple of the ones that I commonly recommended have been recently discontinued or are out of inventory just about everywhere.

A couple that I think are worth taking a look at are the MDR1Am2 (though at other times they have been available for about 40% less than that price) or possibly the T60rp.

I did spot a pair of open-box 99 Classics at a decent price, though I’ve never tried those myself.
