I record them on my iPhone (the voice recorder app). Then I put some music behind it (on Imovie), loop it and download it on my phone. I listen to it all night long.

I use sleeping headphones for this. I keep the volume pretty low, otherwise I can’t fall asleep.

if the headphones are uncomfortable to sleep in, consider getting something like this. these style headphones are quite popular in the ASMR community and should be a lot more comfortable.

either way though, i’m wishing for high quality sleep in your future 🙂

I hope some of this is helpful. I was only in the hospital for 6 days but was very thankful for:
Toilet paper- theirs sucks (single ply).
Apple TV if you have it.
A (thick) robe. Easiest to put on and off to regulate temperature (and hospital rooms can get cold.
Poopourry if you care.
Eye mask. I think this one is fantastic so you can play some white noise or music or meditations while you sleep.
Non-slip slippers.
Charging phone battery.
Lip balm.
Hand lotion.
Hair turban for wet hair.
Hair dryer.
Thick socks.
Nail clippers for your long stay.
Ear buds (and charger).

Splurge on an Elvie if you plan on pumping, it’s so worth it. Look at flanges on Amazon if you need smaller ones. Also nipple cream (Morherlove on Amazon is great).

Sorry, I was just trying to be dramatic like the other responses I’d read. My suggestion is try those soft over the ear headphones that are intended for sleeping. I’ve always wanted to try them.

I don’t know if this will help you, but it’s a headphone-headband that you can stream anything you want to from your phone into your ears while sleeping. Only $20! There are ton of free sound generator apps, or audiobooks, or YouTube videos like ASMR (I’ve been thinking about paying for the ad-free version because that’s annoying), etc etc. It’s better than just playing sound in the room, because if you’re lying on your side, you can still hear it in both ears. And if there’s someone else in the room they don’t have to listen.

I absolutely have come to rely on this thing and find it hard to go to sleep without it now due to all the thoughts in my brain. Maybe it could help you!!

Get one of these. Best purchase I’ve made to combat this awful affliction.

I bought a pair a while back: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHBQY7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_XDBS8VXY8HC5K5AZZSER?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I never wear them. They’re not comfortable at all. To he honest, after wearing them I can confidently say that I doubt any pair is comfortable. When you’re sleeping it’s hard to get comfortable with something foreign on. Maybe you’d get used to it, but I sincerely think putting your phone under your pillow to play audio is a better choice. In my experience, it’s way more comfortable.

Life saver for me. I like listening to music as I fall asleep so I got these bad boys. Idk if the alarm will go through Bluetooth or through the headphones

I was all ready to say N A H because some people really are heavy sleepers but then I saw the part about him staying up til 1-2am. And he obviously knows when his time is up because he can jump right out of bed after his last alarm. If I were the OP, I would tell him that we’re going back to two alarms and after the second one, I’m turning it off. And while this won’t teach him to get his act together, I’d also suggest a sleep mask with headphones and a white noise app. I own this one and it’s a lifesaver (my husband snores). NTA

They make headphones specifically for sleep. My AirPods are my wireless headphones with the absolute shortest battery life – nice to keep tucked in my purse and laptop bag so I always have headphones handy but definitely not my go to. I would just return the AirPods if they aren’t cutting it for you.

These are the sleep ones my mom has success with – https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHBQY7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_YFDRF1TFXAZ6ZEMTJ729. She pairs them with various tracks of thunderstorms from Apple Music all night.

I personally have insomnia and melatonin does nothing for me. My doctor prescribed a sleep aid that helps.

Nah you’re the douche, I’m asking a product question for the community

I genuinely want to know if folks like them because I want to buy a set and they’re pretty affordable all things considered

But I have to ask, what rubbed you the wrong way? Do you make headphones?

My husband doesn’t snore thank goodness, but I don’t sleep well so I always listen to white noise or binaural beats as I’m trying aimlessly to fall asleep. I couldn’t use my AirPods since they would fall out while I’m tossing and turning and I’d wake up and have to look for them. Also as a side sleeper, they hurt my ears if I lay on one side too long.

I found these sleep headphones that have low profile speakers so I can easily sleep on my side. They are Bluetooth so there are no wires and the only downside I’d say is that the headband can be a little bit warm, but I’m a cold person generally so it’s not too much of an issue. For music or something to listen to, I like YouTube videos of ambient noise and delta wave binaural beats with black screens so it doesn’t add too much light.

I realize this is a solution to the symptom and not a cure for the problem, but I hope it helps you both sleep better. I’ve also seen beds and devices that detect snoring and then raise or buzz to help with the soft pallet flapping which I think is what causes the actual snoring.

You might try buying some of these…

Sleep Headphones Wireless, Perytong Bluetooth Sports Headband Headphones with Ultra-Thin HD Stereo Speakers Perfect for Sleeping,Workout,Jogging,Yoga,Insomnia, Air Travel, Meditation https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHBQY7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_2X7H1DJTG55RC3WVNGYP?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

Then get an wichita library card and download Libby. You’ll then have access to thousands of audiobooks for free.

Nothing knocks me out like a listening to a book read by a narrator with a soothing voice.

Disclaimer: I don’t have insomnia so I’m not sure if this would help but I have heard of it helping folks.

That’s the one I have and it’s worked great for me. I have an app called Atmosphere on my phone which has a variety of different sounds that will continue to play all night. I use a combo of the pink noise and brown noise options on it. Blocks out the neighbours noise and my partner’s snoring!

Get her a pair of these. I would imagine eventually the repeating sound will wake her up, and she’ll have to deal with it herself. In the meantime you won’t hear it lol

Soft nighttime headphones. Like these Sleep Headphones https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07SHBQY7Z/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_ER5MJYWK5MR73TGE85XV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 I have this brand and it works great. Husband cant hear it at night when Im wearing them. These ones in particular are just a weeeeee large for my head. The sound quality is great but Id love them to be a bit smaller because then I could wear them as ear warmers on my dog walks too and good for air travel. But these are sleep game changers. My husband even picked him up a pair of a different brand hes waiting on in the mail.

We also have some bose sunglasses that have built in speakers. Again mine are a little big for my head. May want to shop around for sizing but the idea of them is sound. Great again for hiking, dog walks, kayaking etc.

I usually sleep pretty good but the rustling sounds of critters nearby always wake me and keep me alert. I’m not even really afraid so much as it’s a natural response to wake up. After enough nights in the woods you might adjust but hasn’t happened to me if sleeping outside for only a day or two.

Not unethical, but I have very high auditory sensitivity, and these have been a lifesaver for me at bed time. Somehow I ended up with a wonderful human that has tics, and one of them is clearing his throat very loudly, and I usually go to bed a couple hours before him. These have been awesome for that.

Omg isn’t it sooo frustrating? Like my brain knows I need sleep but my body and everything else is like nope. Someone on here said the Beam CBD powder for sleep has been helpful. I might try that plus guided meditations using these cool Bluetooth headphones I found that are made for sleeping in: https://www.amazon.com/Sleep-Headphones-Perytong-Ultra-Thin-Meditation/dp/B07SHBQY7Z

YTA

I have a bunch of alarms set, too. And my partner is a light sleeper who has a hard time falling asleep. He also stays up late, and I get up pretty early.

You know what I did? I have my alarms set to a noise he doesn’t mind, but I absolutely hate. It took me less than a month to start waking up before the alarms because of that. My alarm is set for 6? I’m awake by 5:30 at the latest, turning off that alarm. Then I just chill in bed for a little while with the light of my phone keeping me semi-awake. By the time 6 rolls around, I’m mostly awake, and can go about my day without waking him up.

Why don’t you try sleeping with headphones? They make bluetooth sleeper headsets, you could hook it up to your phone, and then your alarms will only be heard by you.

Hurricane just passed us and everyone who was in lock down wished they had ear plugs, a good eye mask, and melatonin.

I’d get something like this to listen to a meditation podcast/white noise but still hear your alarm:

I actually use a wireless headset that’s meant for sleep use, the speakers are built into a headband. It works out ok- the speakers in it move around a bit, and if you are a side sleeper, they press in to your ears a little more than I’d like.

But they get the job done.

something like this:

there are several different listings for very similar, or maybe even the same thing.

If you like white noise, have you tried sleep headphones? I’ve only had mine for a few months for travel but I’d swear by them. You’ll need to charge them every day though. Earplugs aren’t too expensive in bulk either if that’s more your speed.

+1 for investing in a mattress topper and closing the radiator in your dorm. If that’s still not enough, see if you can crack open your window or run a fan pointed at you at night. Or switch to lighter weight bedding/sleepwear – I rarely used more than a lightweight quilt to sleep in the dorms and in my off-campus apartment.
