I use actual over the ear headphones instead of earbuds, and these are the best set I’ve ever had. I originally bought them for $60 and it was well worth it, so $40 in my opinion is still great. Got these for Christmas in 2018, and the audio quality is still just a good with only a little damage around the ear cuffs. The noise canceling is really nice at eliminating background noise (like in the car you no longer hear the rumbling)

They’re Cowin E7s. They’re cheap, but i like them a lot for what I use them for. I couldn’t find the exact ones, but these look the same besides the brand:
