I use these got the for $145 on sale. They come with a nice case and I rock them daily, going in and out of my work backpack. No need for a preamp, my phone and laptop drive them just fine. I listen to all sorts of music and they handle it all just fine, in my opinion.

I use the Senheiser Momentums with my phone. The pause and play buttons work great but unfortunately the volume doesn’t change via the headset. That being said, I never felt the need to readjust my volume once I am set. Different people might have different use cases of course!

>The Momentum is a on ear headphone. The Momentum 2.0 is over ear and they are more than $200.

This is extremely incorrect. The momentum 1.0 may have small earcups, but it is very much considered to be over-ear.

Man there was a sell on these headphones that I really wanted for a long time, but when I pressed add to cart it just sat there, the button said searching for deal, it would not add it to my cart at all.

They were on sale for 120 bucks, now back up to 160…http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Black-Headphone/dp/B00AZZNXOK/ref=sr_1_9?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1437056295&sr=1-9&keywords=over+ear+headphones&refinements=p_89%3ASennheiser%2Cp_n_feature_browse-bin%3A2266982011

On amazon.com, the momentum over-ear is closer to 170 than 300. I’m not sure where you’re getting these numbers from.

I thought you were referring to the over-ear soundtrue, in which they are about the same price as the momentum, sorry.

you should look to see if you can get used to IEMs. they offer superior isolation and sound quality compared to earbuds, but I can’t fault you for liking the shallow fit bose style.

Personally if I were to get something that worked in home or outside, I’d probably go with neither and get something like the Momentums instead.

The Sennheiser Momentum are really the best semi-portable over-ear headphones, fully foldable over-ears are few and far in between, they would probably be your best bet: http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Black-Headphone/dp/B00AZZNXOK/ref=sr_1_1?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1429555968&sr=1-1&keywords=sennheiser+momentum

In my opinion, Sennheiser Momentums look nice and inconspicuous.

New Momentums right at the cusp of your budget.

New V-Moda M100 also at 200 exactly.

If you wait a little bit these go on sale. I got the M-100 in ‘Phantom Chrome’ for 150 during Black Friday (I know… it’s 6 mos. away).

If you check the used for V-Moda on Amazon, there are ‘like new’ and refurbished for 160 to 180, free shipping.

I would recommend that if you get V-Modas to fork out 20 bucks and get the XL pads. They make a big difference!

Can anybody help me figure out where to buy Momentum IIs from? They vary wildly in price from $190 here to $350 on the manufacturer’s website.

It even varies between $165 to $286 on different amazon listings!

Momentum II owners, where did you get yours from an how much did you pay? The eBay ones look like the best bet to me right now because of how trusted the seller is (I’ve also had good experiences with eBay in the past), but idk what the difference is between all these listings.

Budget: $200-350 USD

Source: Desktop with Fiio USB DAC E-10 98% of the time, otherwise my GS5.

Usage: 8+ hours daily. I am a writer, and can’t write without listening to music. 10 hours probably average daily.

Type of Headphone: I would prefer something closed, I have something similar to ALS, so I need something light. I do not want in ears.

Music: Rock, classical and jazz.

Past Headphones: Sennheiser HD 25’S (only replacing because the left headphone is shorting out, otherwise I love them).

I am wondering if my budget is high enough that I have enough to purchase a new amplifier, as well as upgrade headphones? Truth be told, my old caregiver set everything up for me so I’m not that knowledgeable (but I’m learning!). I have been doing a fair amount of research though, and I am looking for opinions on Sennheiser Momentum Headphone, Sennheiser Urbanite XL, Beyerdynamic T51i (these look really lightweight which is a huge positive for me), Beyerdynamic DT-1350-80 (another lightweight pair). The last two pairs (the lightweight ones) are cheap enough that I would be able to upgrade my Fiio USB DAC E-10 (would I even want to)? I appreciate any input!

Could someone tell me the difference between the different models of Sennheiser Momentums? Why is this one $162, this one $350, and this one $90?

Sorry for not following the proper format, but this didn’t seem like a question that needed its own thread and I wasn’t sure where else to ask it.

The Sennheiser Momentums are $300 on this list but are $180-230 on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Momentum-Black-Headphone/dp/B00AZZNXOK…which makes me kind of skeptical to buy the wrong product. These are it right?

You will not find a better pair of headphones other than the Sennheiser Momentum Over ear for less than $200. Amazon Link These guys were about $360 when they were first released.

Sennheiser Momentum

I’m strongly considering biting the bullet on these. I had shit quality headphones my whole life, got a pair of beat solo hds and was thoroughly impressed. I’m ready to take the next step up, but I don’t want to make a dumb decision. These seem like really well-rounded headphones, and I mostly play games and watch netflix/youtube videos with the headset. I also saw this Sennheiser Momentum 2.0

But it says it’s for Samsung Galaxy. I have a blackberry and an iphone for music. Do new iphones use different jacks? Does it have a 3.5 mm jack? I am retarded to this stuff, so please take pity on me right now

EDIT: I should also say, an old game called Riven is what’s driving this decision. It sounded so crisp, so real and powerful that it made me realize how important audio is. Cyan is doing another game called Obduction, and I want to have a really good set of headphones for when that comes out.

DOUBLE EDIT: Also, someone said the DT880s have better soundstage. Are these better? Will I need an amp?

So the current price of the Sennheiser Momentums are $198. Are there better closed over-ear headphones out there around the same price range or is Momentum the best bang for my buck?

I listen mostly to stuff like this and this and would mostly use my laptop and phone as the source. I live in New Zealand but could just import stuff from the US easily. Cheers!

EDIT: Would the Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO suit me better?

I haven’t quite left the “new-toy” phase yet with my momentums so there’s some bias, but they sound good for the price, power easily from portable devices, and have a really decent in-line mic and control pod. The cable doesn’t have the typical braided appearance, but it is actually kevlar reinforced inside the insulation so it’s strong as hell. If you like the look of braided cable, you can always look into sleeve kits and shrink wrap. It doesn’t add much more strength than the kevlar already provides, but it’s an easy/cheap mod to make something a little more your own.
