They look pretty good, I rather like them.

Though my understanding is that pricier is usually better, and Sennheiser’s a popular brand here, so…how are these?

  • Budget: $100~$150. Will spend more if there’s nothing in this price range though.
  • Source: Desktop Gaming PC.
  • Requirements for Isolation: Some. Don’t really care too much about this though.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public?: No.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone: Full sized over ear like my old headphones (oblong shaped, not perfectly circular). Comfort is my main desire for these headphones.
  • Preferred tonal balance: Balanced or whatever works for gaming. Don’t really care too much about this one.
  • Past headphones: Sennheiser HD 419 Headphones Mostly bought them for the comfort.
  • Preferred Music: Video game and movie scores, I don’t listen to music outside of games too often.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up: Mobility, looking for wireless headphones.

TL;DR: Looking for comfortable wireless over ear headphones for gaming.

  • Budget: Would prefer something around to $100-$150 but will spend more if necessary.
  • Source: Desktop Gaming PC, watching movies (on this PC)
  • Requirements for Isolation: Some. Using these at home but it’s usually fairly quiet so I just need to be able to hear if someone is knocking on my door or something.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public?: No.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone: Over Ear (full sized?) only. Wireless if possible. Headphones preferred over headset as I already have a good microphone.
  • Preferred tonal balance: No real preference so probably just balanced. Again this is mostly going to be for gaming and movies.
  • Past headphones: Sennheiser HD 419 Headphones Mostly bought them for the comfort.
  • Preferred Music: Video game and movie scores, I don’t listen to music outside of games too often.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up: Mobility, hoping to get wireless headphones.

TL;DR: Looking for comfortable over ear headphones for gaming, preferably wireless.

Comfort is a big priority for me in buying new headphones. I wear glasses and having a pair that applies too much pressure bothers me as I tend to wear them for long hours. If they require some “breaking in” to stretch them I don’t mind though. My current headphones satisfy me in this regard but are fairly quiet and are somewhat restrictive due to the short cord, so I am looking for wireless headphones to help alleviate that.

TL;DR: Looking for comfortable over ear gaming headphones, preferably wireless.

On my PC I’m currently using Apple iPhone earphones that you receive with the phone. How much of a sound quality difference would there seriously be if I purchased these? Would it be truly worth it?

Budget – Flexible, but I wouldn’t want to spend more than $100-120.

Source – Laptop, OnePlus5 phone, maybe an amp if I knew more about them

Requirements for Isolation – I would greatly appreciate good sound isolation. Part of the reason im getting IEMs. However, it doesn’t have to perfect since these will be for home/Uni library.

Will you be using these Headphones in Public? Yes, but I do not care about style at all. Comfort is what I’d prefer over style.

Preferred Type of Headphone – I already have HD 419s, but they make my ears way too warm and I’d like something a little more portable. That said, im looking for earbuds/IEMs.

Appreciate the help guys!

Preferred tonal balance – So I’d prefer accurate sound reproduction. I’m not crazy about bass. But, I listen to a lot of metal, and want these to listen to the wail of the lead guitar in songs. So basically best IEMs for metal.

Past headphones – Like I said, I used HD 419s in the past and they sound good, im just tired of having hot ears. Might consider Audio Technica M50x just cause they seem to be the Mazda Miatas of headphones

Preferred MusicHere is an example what I plan on doing/listening to, Pretty much this, Last example.

I don’t mind purchasing and learning about Headphone AMPs and DACs, but I doubt i’ll need them for IEMs.

I’d suggest the Sennheiser HD419 or HD439 over the Shure’s.

I can recommend not buying a headset, you are guaranteed to not get good bang for your buck. Try going for something along the lines of getting http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-Closed-Back-Over-Ear-Headphones-Dynamic/dp/B005N8W1MO/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1446861361&sr=8-7&keywords=sennheiser

This is coming from an audio engineer. modmic isnt the best but it is damn good for its cost, and any pair of non gaming branded headphones are going to get you better sound

Up until recently i had a pair of Sennheiser 419s for my headphones. Unfortunately they were the latest sacrifice to my cat who has a thing for chewing wires, but i’m planning on picking up another set because of how much i loved them.

As for a microphone for gaming, i never really picked one up because i didn’t really need it, but i got a decent deal on this AudioTechnica condenser mic along with a stand, so when it comes in i’ll be using that along with my headphones.

Overall it’s about the same as most entry level gaming headsets, but without sacrificing sound quality, plus i can utilize my microphone for tracking and recording if/when needed.

Are these any good for a low budget?

My cheap Sony MDR-ZX100s are now broken, so now I’m looking for a step-up in headphones. I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on these Sennheiser HD 419s but I want to make sure if there’s anything better in the price range.
I’m a broke college student so I’d prefer not to have to drop $50+ on headphones.
