I’ve been using these for the past 3 years. Didn’t find any others that sounded better, the highs and the lows sound perfect on this, also many famous recording studios use this. They went recently out of stock on Amazon and Flipkart. Should be back soon, I guess. I got them for Rs. 1800.

How do they compare to these headphones.

Just curious, because these have lasted me a good while, and the sound/bass is really good, but if these are better (particularly for gaming), I may get them since they’re £64 on the UK Amazon.

I’ve had a set of Sennheiser HD 202 headphones for a couple years. They’re nice because I can still tell if someone is talking directly to me, but background noise is pretty well covered. They’re decently cheap too (for a Sennheiser product).

A lot of the higher end ones are gaming headsets, but there are plenty of solid professional options as well.

Sennheiser makes some particularly good ones, such as these:

Edit: Alright, well, I can’t seem to find the ones I used to have at work. They were phenomenal, but apparently Sennheiser no longer makes them.

They do still make the equivalent though, which uses the 3.5mm jack-type you’d prefer anyway it seems:

I’ll see if I can find the ones I was thinking of, and if so, I’ll let you know.

We use these Sienhauser HD202 at my old radio station and hey are awesome. My only gripe is that the cord is suuuuuper long. I’ve added a knot to shorten it but besides that, I love them.

Sennheiser HD 202 are great for me. They are not built for abuse like you might want out of a DJ headphone, but they hold up fine if you take care of them and at $20 they are easily replaceable. The cord itself is replaceable, so if your cord wears out from use you don’t need to replace the whole set. They don’t have swivel ear cups that many DJ headphones have, but you can comfortably slide one cup behind your ear as needed.

Yeah, which is surprising considering how well-received the open-back 598 SE is received. I’ve heard rumours that this is a rebranded 569 as well (someone linked a neogaf post or something on another thread?) so that’s kind of strange. Either way, I want an upgrade from the HD 202 II’s (https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-202-Professional-Headphones-Black/dp/B003LPTAYI) so I’m just hoping these were worth the money.

> What makes and made SS so insanely frightening is the sound design

Totally agree! Same with Fallout 1, the final boss has amazing sound design!

I play all games with big over the ear headphones, and if you are not on that, you should drop 30$ on a pair of Sennheiser hd 202’s

$25 (I think the price went up recently)
Sennheiser HD202. Were very adjustable, comfortable and tough. They do have a 10-foot y-cable that winds around an included wrap spool. 10 feet of cable can be either fantastically convenient or horrible for this use case!

I own these: Sennheiser 504291 HD 202 Closed Back On-Ear Stereo Headphone, @ £27

For the price the sound quality is excellent. I can hear footsteps very well I’d say. The downside is that they aren’t durable enough to go outside with.

oh, if you can’t hear the huge difference in mp3-320 and FLAC, then you might as well get yourself some $25 headphones and be done with it, your hearing is already gone. I would recommend these for ya! They are Sennheisers, so it will be our little secret 😉

Get a good pair of noise cancelling. A quick amazon search found this pair for cheap. I’m sure you can find others though.

·

7th Jan 2016

I’d say try other kinds of low-intensity, low-volume noise on a good set of circumaural headphones. The Sennheiser HD 202 II are not only fantastic, they’re inexpensive as hell if you need to replace them. Whichever noise you choose, you don’t want it to be loud enough to be distracting; instead, it should be background noise that doesn’t actively grab your attention, while at the same time drowning out distracting noise.

Thanks for the reply. Do you mean I can get a different type of cheaper mic and stand, or find ones I’ve stated cheaper elsewhere?

In regards to phantom power it is available.

Headphones not the best – Sennheiser HD 202 Closed Back On-Ear Stereo Headphone.

The reason I’m spending so much on mic and stand is because I don’t want to cheap out and have to re-buy in the future.

I am likely to use the mic as a pick up for acoustic guitar as well as vocals.

I’d recommend Sennheisers. The HD 202s seem to have good reviews on Amazon and they’re less than $30.

Sennheiser HD 202’s. $22 on Amazon and has great bass. If you’re on a budget, I would highly recommend these. About durability, the phones are connected to the headband thing with a removable socket, so even if you drop them, they will break apart, absorb the impact, and then you can put them back together!

If you’re not bothered about talking to people online, then I recommend these Sennheiser headphones.

They’re dead cheap and feel comfortable on your head. I’m no audiophile but the sound quality is good for the cost of the them.

Btw never use Speakers on TF2, with headphones you can hear the footsteps and makes you play better 😛

Hope that info helps you, Happy new year!

I had this Senheiser and they were good actually, but I don’t like anymore to wear over the head headphones. After a couple of hours my ears start sweating and I just want to pull them off. I prefer a more unobtrusive ones.

Best headphones I’ve ever owned, and they’re only $25. The bass you get with them’s insane, and I’ve used mine as speakers in a pinch, because they can get so loud. Granted, these are only stereo, so if you want a gimmicky 5.1 set, I’d look elsewhere.

Sennheiser HD 202 II Professional Headphones

http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-202-II-Professional/dp/B003LPTAYI/ref=pd_cp_e_3

$20 bucks and they do the job. Never use anything other than an IEM or over-the-ear headphones so you can protect your hearing. I don’t like the expensive over-the-ear headphones because I like to be able to hear my drumset so I can gauge my volume while playing. If you set your music volume (from a Zune/iPod) right, then you can still hear the band/drummer, but also hear what you are playing.

In that price range I don’t have much experience, but the Sennheiser HD 202 II and the HD 201 are both solid choices. The 201 is better for everyday use the the HD202’s are more for bass, and might be a bit quiet without an amp so the 201 is probably your better option.

However if you can afford it you can go to the used section of the Audio-Technica ATH-M20x and get a pair of M20x’s for a bit less than retail from Amazon Warehouse in good condition. They are a very large leap in quality from the Sennheiser but is totally worth it if you can afford it. I have the M40x ones and they are the best headphones I’ve bought.

Edit: The biggest thing to know about headphones is that you get what you pay for, but branding is the most expensive of all. Don’t get things like Beats or Skullcandy because they typically overcharge massively because of the branding.

Location: India

Budget: Indian ₹6,000 (~US $100) Hard limit. It’s a big amount to me. Most mid-range android phones cost between ₹8,000-₹15,000.

Source: 50% Laptop and 50% Android phone

Requirements for Isolation: I will be using it both at home and on public transportation, so headphones with sound leaks are not preferable.

Preferred Type of Headphone: I would prefer over-ear rather than on-ear or IEM.

Preferred tonal balance: Overall balanced pair

Past headphones:

Preferred music:

 • I listen to a LOT of rock, metal, heavy metal and listen to classical music (usually Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven) on public transportation. I do not listen to rap or pop music.

What I would like to improve on from my current set-up:

Extra points if you can get me a pair with in-built mike and buttons.

I am kind of a Sennheiser fan and I have narrowed down my search to 2 alternatives:

A website that may help whoever wants to help me: Headphone Zone India

Can r/headphones help me buy a good pair? Are there any alternatives in their price range?
I would love to switch to other companies.

I cannot take international delivery.

If your happy with your current headsets sound, get an Antlion Modmic, its great for a headset mic and its completely modular. If you have another pair of headphones you like a mod mic would be good too.

For under 50$ its kind of hard to find a good headset, but i have an MSI headset https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0178Q8WU8/ref=mp_s_a_1_22?ie=UTF8&qid=1471188477&sr=8-22&pi=AA140_QL70&keywords=gaming+headset The sound on it is decent, the mic is kind of bad though. Another good one is the HyperX cloud core https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0153XL4V2/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1471188523&sr=8-5&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=hyperx+cloud&dpPl=1&dpID=31QKMfz4iFL&ref=plSrch though it might be uncomfortable.

However, another option (and the best in my opinion) would be to get some Sennheiser HD 202’s because they sound a lot better than the HyperX and the MSi, (though you can check on /r/headphones, they have thread for what to buy at a certain budget) and to get an Antlion mod mic 4.0

Senn heisers – https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-202-Professional-Headphones-Black/dp/B003LPTAYI

Modmic- https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00T6XUL8S/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471188835&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=antlion+modmic&dpPl=1&dpID=41KEYLbMMTL&ref=plSrch

Hope i helped you!

If you want a closed headphone : Sennheiser HD202

If you want an open headphone : Superlux HD681EVO

I recommend the Superlux HD681EVO because It has a wide soundstage, good bass and is more oriented to your needs than the HD202. As far as adjustable bass goes you could just do that in an equalizer.

Good choice, just make sure that you get the Aurvana Live Gen 1. The second generation of this headphone is not nearly as good sounding.

*edit: I also forgot to mention: The Monoprice headphones are not easily available in Europe, go for the Sennheiser HD202 instead (if you need it cheap)

1 point

·

This may be going on deaf ears(pun intended), but I would highly recommend ascending your audio experience as well, if you can.

Cheap pair of excellent closed-back headphones (Sennheiser)

A slightly less cheap pair of amazing open-back headphones(what I personally use) (Sennheiser)

Pair them with a decent tube amp, and you’ll hear sounds and notes you never thought were part of games or songs before.

An example of the cheapest tube amp that I know of that actually does the job right.

If you absolutely need a mic on your headset, I suppose I don’t have much else of a recommendation. Otherwise go for something like a $20-30 XLR mic.

Amazon.com has pretty good tools for finding stuff like this, actually.

Shop by department->Electronics->Headphones. Choose type (in-ear, on-ear, over-ear). Then, on the left, filter by average customer review. I like 4-stars or above. Also, set a price. You can enter a custom amount, like $10-30.

I just found this and this and this and this and this in about 30 seconds.

You can further filter by brand or feature (like wireless or noise-cancelling) or color or whatever. Read reviews and pick the one that you like best.

Budget: $40

Source: Laptop/Computer/Android Device

Headphone Requirements: Over Ear – Closed – Detachable Cable

Tone: Balanced

Use: Art Studio – Cafe

Isolation: Alien – No Preference

Type of Music: Preference for Orchestrated Soundtracks and voice recording.

Previous Headphones: Cheap $15 ones that either developed faulty wires or snapped where the earpiece connects to the headband.

What I’m looking for in a new pair: Detachable Cable (looking to get a 3ft for casual listening and 8+ for in-studio listening), foldable, sturdy build. large fit for my large head.

Currently looking at:
Sennheiser HD 202
Monoprice
Sentey Thorx

I can’t find professional (or trustworthy) reviews of Sentey products, heard iffy things about Monoprice, and the Sennheiser I’ve heard good things about but the HD 202 doesn’t have detachable cables.

Sennheiser HD 202 II — Seriously, these are amazing.

Super cheap and one of the best rated cans (Ranked #84 in Headphones).

eh they are OK. I’m an amateur musician and semi-pro DJ. I bought these headphones on sale about 15 years ago for $15 brand new, and they sell for $25 online brand new right now: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-202-Professional-Headphones-Black/dp/B003LPTAYI

They are fine for the price I guess but nothing extraordinary. There are plenty of headphones in the $25 price range that are similar or better.

Personally I prefer the $16 Monoprice DJ headphones: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=8323

They are significantly better than those sennheisers, and these headphones can easily beat headphones that cost $50+

Another option that is better than the sennheiser hd202 is the Koss UR20: https://www.amazon.com/Koss-T55959-UR-20-Home-Headphones/dp/B00005N9D3/ref=zg_bs_12097479011_32

That being said, the Sennheiser HD280pros are great headphones but they are $100: https://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-HD-280-Pro-Headphones/dp/B000065BPB/ and so are the HD25-II. I just don’t recommend Sennheiser’s entry level headphones like the HD202 or HD201. Sennheiser just can’t compete at the lowest end of the market. Sennheiser does the mid range and high end headphones right, but not the entry level IMHO.

Easily the best headphones available for under $30, are Sennheiser HD 202 II ‘s. They’re not pretty, they have a long cord but goddamn they sound great for the price. They also make more expensive versions, all available on Amazon.
