My heart: Hey, paying $37/month for 6 months ain’t too shabby a price to pay for this.
My head: Wtf, you idiot, you don’t even really need this.

There’s only one on the market that can play series X/S games
Seagate Storage Expansion for Xbox Series X|S 1TB Solid State Drive – NVMe Expansion SSD for Xbox Series X|S (STJR1000400) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K3S6WJM/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_GWHGMMAACS08K5R99HPQ?psc=1
Everything else that isn’t considered a Series x/S game can be stored and played on a regular HDD
·
If you want more storage that will play Series X games, then you have to buy the Seagate Expansion . It’s the only Solid State Drive that will store and play Series games.

Honestly it seemed fine to me, if it wasn’t so expensive or compromising to upgrade the system with an extra drive. You can’t store Series S/X games on external HDDs or even SSDs, and you only can with the expansion cards with cost not much less than the Series S itself, at least the only one avaliable right now is.
·
Or you can buy this as well and store them on it and play them. Seagate Storage Expansion for Xbox Series X|S 1TB Solid State Drive – NVMe Expansion SSD for Xbox Series X|S (STJR1000400) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K3S6WJM/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_RCWR75CB8QKCDSBCCF0J

Those external drives hurt load time and performance though. AFAIK this is the only one that gives similar performance to stock HDD:

Oh… For a “standard” External HDD, yeah the price isn’t bad at all, and for most XBox one and legacy games it’s a perfectly viable option where you can play games directly from it.
I was referring to the Special Seagate Expansion card for the Series X|S, It’s $219 USD currently. This is needed to play anything that REQUIRES the velocity architecture (like Flight Simulator) if you don’t have enough space on the internal drive. You CAN use a cheaper drive to store your games (and swap / move when you want to play them), but if they expect that nVME speed the game needs to be either on the internal drive or one of those to play directly from it.
I hope that helps.

> I’m really curious how many they sold so far
Amazon.com
has ~37K reviews and 1K+ answers for it, so I think we can agree on a lower bound of…. 5?

Hi, yes was sent straight to metro Manila. Here’s what I do. Set your address first then search. You’ll find that you’ll only see items that can be sent to Philippines now with.
Or try this url:

·
From all the reading I’ve done about it, it seems like this thing, unfortunately because of price, will be the only viable option to keep the performance of extra storage up to par with the internal.
·
No, a 1tb drive is literally $220
So yes, changing from a 512 to a 1tb would at most add $110 onto the cost.
Maybe have a clue what you are saying before calling other people “objectively wrong” and looking like a moron

>You don’t buy the storage from Seagate. You buy it from Microsoft who pay Seagate to make them.
Incorrect. Seagate are selling it themselves as well through other retailers like Amazon as they don’t have their own online store: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08K3S6WJM/
>They had a few vendors, Hitachi and WD (maybe also Seagate, don’t recall) who made hard drives MS then put into a proprietary shell.
It didn’t matter who the HDD manufacturer was because MS manufactured and supplied the 360 Storage Unit, the HDD was just a component of that unit. The same way it doesn’t matter who manufactured the SSD in a Macbook, it’s Apple that has manufactured the retail SKU and the product prices won’t changed even if Apple switch to different SSD suppliers with that product SKU.

The 1TB Xbox Storage Expansion card and the SN850 are both $200.
·
Series X https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Storage-Expansion-Solid-State/dp/B08K3S6WJM
It’s still technically a memory card. Because it holds you guessed it. Memory

For storing yes. For playing games off of it you’ll need this.
·
Seagate Expansion NVMe SSD (will play next gen games):
A regular USB HDD (store next gen games, play backwards compatible games)
A faster USB SSD (store next gen games, play backwards compatible games)
Those are just examples for the external USB drives, there are more options for sure.

Then how come PS5 compatible NVME SSD’s of the same size and with higher rated speeds are already cheaper than the Seagate Storage options. The lack of competition unfortunately means that Seagate has no incentive to compete or drop their prices, in turn Xbox fans pay a higher price, $60 to $40 more.
