Samsung T7. Durability is important with a laptop. Don’t get a fragile POS to save a few bucks or it will cost you more in the long run.
I strap them to the back of my laptops with velcro. I prefer the 2TB cause I do a lot of video.

Plex offers the advantage of store once/view everywhere, with reasonable sharing functionality. As far as real photo management features, they are minimal to say the least.
For really great portable external drives, I use these:

I was thinking of picking up an external ssd then just having steam read my games off of that so i dont have to do transfers as much (i know it might take a little bit longer). If i was to download at work then transfer at home, would it take longer to transfer and replace the files or read off the SSD? It might be faster just to read off the SSD but idk if there are limitations about it that i dont know about.
i found 2 SSD’s that i might pick up just idk if there are better ones for the price

Could you let me know if the above ones are good or could you recommend one that is just as good or better? (1TB would be ideal)
Thank you so much for the lengthy response and i’ll keep an update on how everything goes.

ok this article suggests that internal ps5 ssd is going to be faster than external storage https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/11/playstation-5-review-more-of-a-generational-hop-than-a-leap/. that isn’t shocking.
Now… I suggest deciding how much you are willing to pay and then the rest falls into place. You just have to prioritize speed or storage size.
At 1TB the range is $50-200. Maybe you want the https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Touch-Portable-SSD-MU-PC1T0K/dp/B082YGLNGR ? or you can get an older ssd (like the t5), or one using qlc nand which is slower (like the qvo see this digital foundry article https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2020-8tb-ps4-pro-storage-upgrade-tested ), or a mechanical drive would get down to $60 or so. Good luck!
