While I agree that the LS50 likes some power, $1000 would be more than enough for the DAC/Amp/Preamp combo.

He uses it to stream from his iPad into his amp and likes it better than the $1500 dac he used to have. He demo’d it for me and I was very impressed, fwiw.

The Audioengine A5s are quite decent loudspeakers, what would you like to see improved. A nice upgrade for me would be:
- SMSL M500 – $400
- Genelec 8030C – $1500
The DAC is better, but more importantly, its balanced. You can use the unbalanced outputs to power the subwoofer. Unfortunately, you do lose use for the Schiit products.
