Thanks so much for the reply! I bought a kit off of amazon and it comes with what they call “LUBRICATION GREASE-15g/0.53oz.Customized for Mechanical keyboard switches and Stabilizer Switches lubing.” The reviews say it’s a bit thicker than Krytox, not sure if I should use the stuff in the kit or be safe and just buy krytox.

Here is the kit

Hello, everyone!

I am interested in lubing my switches(Akko Jelly Black), I’m quite unsure of which set of tools and lube I should get.

I am between these two, but if you guys want to recommend me any other kits I would greatly appreciate it(I’m looking for a switch opener, stem holder, keycap remover, lube, and a good switch puller)!

Thank you for reading!

The kits I’m choosing between:

Ah I see, yes 87 switches is a good amount, so I would look for a pack of 90 etc. I also would say if you do get a cheaper option of switches, you could look into purchasing lube such as this link. It would require you to open up each switch and paint the inside with a small brush. If you care, it can improve the feeling and sound of the keys. That link has everything you need, but things like the o-rings are necessary and you could just purchase a switch opener, lube (preferably krytox 205g0 for its viscosity but that isn’t required since its an expensive brand) and some switch films like these to also put on the switches at the same time if you were to lube (no need if you arent going to lube). It’s a good idea that you’re looking around more so, here are some Gateron Milky Yellows which are a fantastic switch for their price as well. People refer to them as “butter on a budget” since they sound great and are so smooth without lube even. I’d say these along with any of the Akko brand switches are a great choice as both these and the Akko brand are cheap but also way more unique than the standard clear Gateron or Cherry switch colors (these are milky meaning they have a slightly heavier spring and are made of a different plastic material than standard non-milky gateron yellows). If you don’t want linear switches and want something else like clicky switches make sure you watch a video on them first! Also, do not purchase “optical” switches, they are not intended for use on standard hot-swap PCBs and require a different type of keyboard as well as sound different.

It kind of looks like what I am using right now. I bought mine from Amazon. Doesn’t come with the magnetic piece but everything else is rather similar…

Yes, it came with all that you see in the pic. I haven’t used the lube tho, lol.
