I don’t think the numpad is necessary for the keyboard since it’s purely a gaming keyboard. The Redragon uses proprietary switches that I’m not entirely confident in, compared to something more established like Cherry, Kaihl, or Gateron. I’d recommend the following alternatives:
- Royal Kludge RK61 or any of the GK61/SK61 – 60% layout, the RK61 is also hotswappable if OP wants to try different switches
- Epomaker K870T – TKL layout
- Akko 3068 (68%) / 3084 (85%) / 3087 (TKL) / ACR 59 (WKL)
If OP is overclocking, I’d avoid the Gigabyte UD and Gaming X lineup, they don’t have the best VRM’s or VRM cooling. Instead, the MSI Pro or the ASUS Prime-P are good alternatives. If you want to go higher, the ASUS TUF-Plus or the MSI Tomahawk would be better choices.

Modding that board will be pretty difficult because it uses so many proprietary parts. Apparently you technically can remove the switches, but it’s inadvisable because they break easily when opened, and you can’t buy individual Razer optical switches (Razer’s boards are only compatible with their own switches) so you won’t be able to change what kind of switch you have. You might be able to lube the stabilizers with a syringe or spray lube to get rid of that stab rattle, but I think that’s about it.
Honestly modding any name brand gaming keyboard is gonna be much more time and money than it’s worth. If you want to get into the hobby with a budget board I would recommend a cheap 60% hot swappable board, like a Royale Kludge RK61 or something similar. I owned a Kemove Shadow and thought it was a solid budget board to learn with.

This seems to be good for your needs. Your game requirements are pretty low but you want a good CPU for dev work. And it’s on sale lol.
For the keyboard:
For the mouse:
- Razer Viper / Viper Mini / Viper Ultimate / Basilisk X Hyperspeed
- Logitech G203 / G305 / G403 / G502 / G703 / G Pro Wireless
- Glorious Model D

If you don’t know what you want, but want a cheap mechanical keyboard that you can modify later, grab yourself a rk61 ($51, 60% layout, hotswappable with any switches and not just optical switches, RGB software as long as you email the company/find it).
If you want to keep your function row and save money for a later end game, but still modify to get into the hobby, then grab a K552 ($30, not fully RGB, only hotswappable for Outemu switches and Akko CS switches, TKL layout) or a Keychron C1 ($65 w/ RGB $55 w/ white only, TKL layout, fully hotswappable for any switches, supports mac and windows, no software to customize RGB)
My personal choice is the K552 as I am more than satisfied after fully customizing one keyboard to this degree. Only downside is that I can’t use anything other than Boba U4T’s and Akko CS switches without having to solder.

this is the one I bought from the Amazon Australian store.
https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B0832LSV8N/ it is not hot swap using the Royal Kludge Red switches.
It would have been helpful for you to provide a link to the board you were looking at from the Amazon store you use.
