Haha I just commented this on another post:

I just got this Revlon blow dry brush and it’s amazing! So easy to use and gives my hair great volume – I would recommend it 10/10!!

This thread is dangerous and also SO good! Haha

One of the best purchases of my life was Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer And Volumizer Hot Air Brush

Does anyone have any recs for hair mask? My hair is naturally wavy, I straighten it though. But there’s breakage and random coarse hair that I wanna get rid of.

EDIT TO ADD: I’ve an obsession with the smell of lemongrass (weird I know lol). Would anyone be able to recommend any lemongrassy smelling candles?

Also in the market for good body wash that smells really fresh? Ofcourse I love lemony smells but I also love “ocean” fragrances.

Thank you guys!!

My hair turns out like hay too if I don’t use a heat protector spray and a high heat from the blow dryer. My hair is naturally curly/frizzy. The high heat + the heat protector (I use Tresemme) is the only thing I’ve found that will get my hair silky smooth. I think the barrel brush also helps to smooth out the hair cuticles cuz I don’t get the same silky smooth result from straightening my hair.

Also, my blow dry savior is this thing from Amazon. I was dubious at first, but omg. This thing is my bestie now. Probably the best $50 I spent all year.

It is the fancy guy! My momma bought it for me as a present. It cuts drying time like crazy, but honestly, it’s not pictured because the cord was all tangled and it’s not as aesthetically pleasing, but right below my new vanity is this revlon dryer that everyone loves and in my opinion it’s better than the Dyson. This one-

For anyone wondering: LINK

YES, one of the best purchases. I hated it at first because I was using on my hair when it was still dripping wet, so it didn’t work. Then I learned that you have to air dry your hair till its like maybe 40% damp (or use the cool setting on your hair to speed things up) and it worked perfectly.

The only downside is that now I love how my hair looks when I use it and I’m trying to limit it to once a week. I only wash my hair twice a week anyway and I’m trying to take better care of my hair. But on the other hand I barely touch my straightener now with this, so I guess it kinda works out?

this is what i would recommend if you want tame, voluminous hair without a ton of work, but it will pull the curl out quite a bit! i have curly hair that i prefer to have a blow out with vs curly and i genuinely love this product. it’s great, easy to use and you can create multiple styles with it. i rarely use my flat iron ever anymore!

edit: try watching a tutorial if you want to see if it’s a product for you!

Absolutely! I bought mine at an Ulta Store. I had not seen the new style of air dryer in person or known anyone personally that had used one yet, Otherwise I would have ordered mine from Amazon!

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LSUQSB0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_qgG4Cb4FT51ZY

There was the other brand I wanted to look at too by BabyBliss. The main difference in the two (other than $10-15), was the BabyBliss version had a self-turning button, clockwise & counterclockwise. I was thinking anything more to help, right?!
The reviews were mixed, with the largest complaint being the brush stopped turning. Second complaint was that strands of hair would get twisted into it causing them to be pulled from your head.

All in all, I’m beyond thrilled that I was only able to purchase the Revlon brand at the store!
Best of luck, hope it helps you!
Cheers

Blowdrying my hair has helped tremendously with dandruff or any smells. If you leave your hair wet for too long, it can get a buildup of bacteria or fungus on your scalp.

I have difficult hair, but this blow dryer has been so helpful and easy to use for about 2 years.

Absolutely! I’m very happy to help! Finding something that helps this much AND being able to pass on the information to fellow chronic pain sufferers is gratifying (wish that wasn’t the case!).
…and bonus points for thinking of your gf, she’s going to thank you for it, plus it’s $47 on Amazon right now, score!
The other brand I was thinking about was BabyBliss, it has an automatic button to turn the brush in either direction. I thought that would be even better but in the reviews that feature seemed to break easily & pull your hair. In the end I only had one to choose from (at the store) & I’m actually happy about that. I think the turning would have been overkill, with the learning curve & random hairs getting stuck in it.
The one I linked below worked perfectly! Only having one tool saved myself a good 20/30 minutes of energy & pain. Priceless!
Best of luck, hope she enjoys it as much as I have!
Cheers

By clarify do you mean using a sulfate-free shampoo or sulfate shampoo?

I wash my hair once a week so I usually use a sulfate-free shampoo to clarify. I can’t co-wash because of build up and it makes my scalp flake so much.

Speaking about brushes, this is seriously the best thing EVER. If you wait for your hair to air dry like 80% and then use this brush it doesn’t take too long. But yeah with heat styling, you need silicones and then probably a sulfate shampoo anyways to rinse it out lol. I know there are water-soluble silicones or even silicone-free, but I have not found good recommendations that would be worth it.

CONVINCE ME

I cannot recommend the Revlon hair dryer brush enough! My husband bought it for me as a Christmas gift 4 years ago, and I’ve used it every day since then. I used to get horribly frizzy hair from air-drying my hair or blow-drying, but this bad boy gets my hair nice and dry and straight in a fraction of the time with little to no frizz! I still have to go over my hair with a flat iron afterwards, but the time I spend flat ironing was cut from half an hour down to FIVE MINUTES!! Highly recommend!

Thank you for the contest!

This is a hair product rave. We went to Costco and they had the Revlon hair dryer brush, I think, it’s the one that has like over 350,000 reviews on Amazon. I was going to buy it for $39 but at Costco it was $30. I could be wrong but I think it is the same one.

Well, got it. Went home and tested it on my daughter’s hair. She has thick curly hair. Well, she had. That baby straightened her hair and made it so…straight like a flat iron. But it gave her a curl at the bottom because I’m still trying to figure it out. It took awhile though because my daughter has a lot of hair. But, oh, it’s a love! I can see why it’s so popular.

I think it is the same one.

I totally feel this, especially re hair! I always feel discouraged getting dressed up when my hair is not done (it feels like a bad attempt at looking put together). I don’t know what hair type you have but for someone with very damaged frizzy/kind of curly but not really hair the $35 Revlon brush hair dryer really changed my life — it’s the first time I’ve been able to give myself a blowout or even smooth my hair while maintaining volume.

I also used to be useless with my hair – it’s naturally wavy, thick and I have a ton of it. It used to take way too long to do anything other than throw it in a pony tail.

Go buy one of these

It’ll blow dry your hair out smooth and mostly straight. It also is so much quicker than a normal blow dryer.

Then get a curling iron and watch some you tube videos on the correct way to curl your hair. Watch it as many times as you need then practice. It gets easier the more you do it.

I believe in you!!!

For future reference, an easy way to get this style and cut down on frizz is to use a round brush to flip the ends and add volume while blow drying. They make a 2 in 1 round brush hair dryer that is really easy to use and you just sort of curl the hair around the brush and it dries your hair while doing it. Same! My chin length hair looks so much fuller. I also use root lifting spray, texture spray, and I got that awesome Revlon blow dryer that’s shaped like an oval brush. That blow dryer changed my life. Revlon Dryer

Thank you! I actually just did solayage on it last night. I had GORGEOUS hair about two years ago but I ruined it in the pool, then with bleaching, so I’m trying to grow it back out really long.

It’s just very straight and fine. I have a lot of hair, though. I rarely dry it, but I uses this when I do.

Sure looks like a keratin treatment is part of it but genetics, water and the right shampoo/conditioner can go a long way.

Related: I have big hair. Frizzes easily. Spent years and $$$ on anti-frizz serums and shampoo/conditioners. Turns out all that noise about ionic blah blah and ceramic this and that, um, well it actually works. This is my new religion and I’m evangelizing about it to anyone who suffers from big hair like me: https://www.amazon.com/Revlon-One-Step-Hair-Dryer-Volumizer/dp/B01LSUQSB0?th=1

Also the Beach Waver Curling Iron help me hold out a ton since you just hit the button in the direction you want it to curl. Maybe it’ll help hold you off while you save?

Your hair has a really nice wavy texture, you could get some serious volume with a round brush and texturizing spray. Here’s an inspo pic I found that is similar to your hair type.

If you want to define your waves, a lightweight curl-forming foam or mousse might be up your alley. Not hard at all to get started with it- r/curlyhair has some great pointers for beginners if you’re interested.

I also have long, straight, flat hair and am 50. I recently cut mine to a long bob (above my shoulders) and use a Revlon hair dryer/volumizer thing that really helps with some fullness. I part on one side, and have longer bands that cover some of my forehead (without being mall bangs). Kinda like this but with some side bangs…
