Not all Razer keyboards are mechanical. This one has all of the lighting effects that most Razer keyboards have but it is not mechanical and should be similar to what you are describing. Most Best Buys/Walmarts should have one so if you can I would go try one out

Would this work if all I wanted to do was remap the keys to the (ctrl/Alt/something)+ the original letter.

https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Cynosa-Chroma-Gaming-Keyboard/dp/B075KMZ4MX/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?keywords=razer+cynosa+chroma&qid=1566702213&s=gateway&sprefix=razer+c&sr=8-1#immersive-view_1566708970719

I found an app on steam that lets me play sounds through my mic and hotkey keys to each sound. Do you know if I could just remap the razer keyboard using the razer software and not have it affect my first keyboard?

It’s actually a relatively cheap keyboard compared to it’s siblings. I don’t recommend getting it from Amazon (due to price) but here’s a link. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075KMZ4MX/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_glt_fabc_29FM8CN0QAXG0MBE9WZ1

>to find any that look good

Get a pair from the same brand, like HyperX, Corsair, Razer

Look into it, I’m sure they are of high quality some of their products will fit your budget.

E.g. Razer Cynosa Chroma (Keyboard) and Razer Mamba Elite (Mouse)

Honestly, I’d be tempted to get something like

No, those aren’t fancy mechanical ones, but he’s 11 and isn’t going to need something like that.

Both of those have RGB lighting (looks cool), are spill proof (because let’s face it, he’s a kid, there IS a decent chance of a drink being spilt at some point), are wired USB keyboards (so should be fine for the XBox), and are from known brands.

And both are under fifty quid.

Not sure how to get the aus page, but this is $1199.33 aus

The cpu comes with a cooler,
The psu is great imo, the storage will be AMAZING for gaming and school and the memory will also be great and you can get cheaper memory if you don’t want rgb.

Great keyboard especially for the price, and has amazing customization. ($107 aus)

Great mouse, same brand and customization as the keyboard I listed but you can get something just as good for far cheaper ($85 aus)

(Remember this list is in USD so in aus it’s 1199)

Thanks! All of my peripherals are programmable, and you can do the whole setup (minus monitors) for ~150. The lighting peripherals are here, hope this helps!

I mean, do you want a mechanical or membrane keyboard? I just bought a Razer Cynosa chroma RGB membrane keyboard for $64 dollars on Amazon. Right now it’s $44.99. I love this keyboard, it serves me well and doesn’t make much noise.

If you would like a mechanical keyboard with switches, my friend likes is a rosewill rgb k85 brown switch. I’ve personally never used one though. This one is about $53 but that may increase to $60 to include shipping

All mechanical boards, even MX Clears or Hako’s or whatever you pick will have some degree of audibility. It’s the nature of the mechanical element.

If you’re looking for something that is backlit and is VERY quiet. Get something membrane like this: https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=11795

If you’re super attached to the idea of changing colors and partial to leveraging the macro utilization, a membrane board from Razer like this https://www.amazon.com/Razer-Cynosa-Chroma-Individually-Spill-Resistant/dp/B075KMZ4MX or a similar model from Logitech will be just fine. These are also relatively quiet compared to mechanical boards.
