Could you give examples for some good no mic ones? I haven’t used the mic on my gaming headset for a long time, so I’ll get good quality headphones while looking for a real mic.
Bought the Arctis 5 headset today because my 2-3 year old Razor Carcharias broke and I needed some headphones. So I’m looking for better ones because these Arctis 5s dont even come close to the Carcharias audio quality.

If you’re talking about a PC headset, I REALLY like these
They are really comfortable, it fits around the ear instead of resting on the ear.. and they just use a really comfortable material all around.

I haven’t really heard people mention it too often, but from a year of personal experience, I can say that this will get the job done. Great noise cancellation and it is extremely comfortable.

I owned a Creative fatality a bit back and Creative was great while I was in warranty but the hardware is just weak, so soon after I dropped out of warranty the thing broke and I was out a headset. I’ve heard the Razer Carchias is wicked comfortable and has decent sound/mic quality, or I might just skip the ‘gaming headset’ and pick up some cheaper side Sennheisers and get a clip on mic.

Version 1 and 2 controllers look like this
Version 3 looks like this
If I recall correctly, version 2 looks like the version 1 controller but has a USB connector in addition to the 3.5mm connectors. So if I had to guess I’d say that you had a version 2 based on your last response.
On a whim, I just went looking for version 1 units, and I found them, for 186 dollars, lol.
Amazon also has a Kraken Pro for 55 dollars (free shipping with prime) for brand new, as opposed to 45 for the refurb on Newegg.

I have moved away from headsets and onto headphone with DAC/AMP and a seperate microphone.
I have the AKG K702 with Aune X1 mk2 DAC and a Blue Yeti microphone.
This is out of your budget for sure so here are the headphones I have personally used that I found to be fantastic.

I have a pair of Razer Carcharias
I had a few cheap sets over the years, and was frustrated by lack of quality of them being uncomfortable. I picked these up after reading many reviews, and on the recommendation of a guy I worked with (he later decided to upgrade to the Megalodon’s, but returned them because he didn’t feel the difference in quality was worth the increased price.)
These things are very comfortable, the quality of sound is good, and the microphone produces high quality voice. The one downside is that the sound tends to be a bit ‘boomy’ – there is some exaggerated bass.
I do use them for everyday listening as well as gaming, and they sound quite good. However, for a more ‘accurate’ listening experience I also have a pair of Grado SR60s which are more portable, but honestly the Razer set sounds just fine.
I’d also recommend looking into some of the Sennheiser sets – I’ve seen them get great marks, but I don’t have any personal experience with them.
