Hi,
I’m trying to brew iced coffee/cold brew at home. This is what I’ve used in the past for cold brew:
Primula Glass Coffee Maker, 50 Oz Capacity, Gray https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00YBQ4XZC/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glc_fabc_WyW1FbSJXVT2V?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
The coffee always came out far too bitter. I’m trying to figure out if it’s the beans or just the brewer I’m using?
Also, do you have any suggestions on where to order basic coffee beans online?

It’s a slender glass pitcher prob 5” across and like a foot tall. It has a v shaped mesh insert that holds the grounds. I’m sure the French press works just as well but I didn’t have one when I wanted to start doing cold brew. Below is a link to the one I have.

Looks like your OXO cold brewer might be difficult to fit in the fridge. I always adjust the grinder setting prior to turning it on, but it shouldn’t matter either way. I wouldn’t recommend ever setting the grinder lower than 4 because you could run the risk of damaging the grinding burrs.
I have experimented with room temp and cold steep. I have found that cold steeping extracts slower and has a cleaner more focused flavor profile than steeping at room temp. Think of the extraction of soluble coffee into water as a chemical reaction. The more heat and/or pressure (espresso) the faster the reaction occurs. I also prefer the cold steep because it helps the tiny coffee grounds (fines) settle and compact at the bottom of my steeping vessel which makes filtering easier. Primula cold brew
