I’m brand new into vinyl… Looking to run these polk speakers (of which there are some second hand ones available locally) off of a Luxman Lv 101 Amp.

Am I going to run into any trouble? Can the amp push enough power? I like listening to metal music… Not deafening but loud enough to enjoy it properly. Not a big room. Also any comments on the sound quality here would be great – opinions welcome.

The RTi’s have a good reputation. I haven’t heard them in a long time but the S series Polks didn’t sound bad when I last heard them in the blue box. They sounded much better than a lot of the previous offerings. I also recommended the RTi’s but wanted to keep it kinda small. Also look at amazon for some better pricing. A3 $330, A1 $250 (also an option because you’re getting a sub).

I’ve never heard of the brands KEF or HTD. Do they have good reputations? Oh yes they do. HTD is an internet direct (ID) company that a lot of folks like. KEF is a UK speaker brand that has been around since the 60’s. I own several KEF speakers and love them. I’m biased towards their sound and their Uni-Q technology (coaxial driver arrangement). Of the list they would be my go to choice but again I’m biased.

I’m looking to replace my M-Audio BX5’s with passive speakers for my desktop setup and I was wondering what makes the Wavecrest HVL1’s so good for music listening? Would they be comparable to these

or these? http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-TSx-220B-Bookshelf/dp/B00CHHCD0E

or these? http://www.amazon.com/Monitor-Audio-Bronze-Bookshelf-Speakers/dp/B002LPTH92/ref=pd_sim_sbs_23_10?ie=UTF8&dpID=413fuQBoyvL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL160_SR107%2C160_&refRID=09APCNXKSSHDXZVQA25K

I’m asking because I live in The Netherlands and the Wavecrests aren’t available here.
